Karl Meyer Hayden, Idaho
Memorial service for Karl A. Meyer, 50, will be today at 11 a.m. at the Unity Church of North Idaho in Coeur d’Alene. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Meyer, who was born in Highland Park, Ill., died Thursday.
He grew up and graduated from high school in Illinois and then attended Iowa State College.
Mr. Meyer joined the Peace Corps in 1968 before returning to Highland Park in the 1970s, where he worked in the construction business.
He then lived in Colorado and Maine, and worked in home construction and as a lumberjack before returning to Illinois in the mid1980s.
Mr. Meyer worked as a restaurant manager in Illinois before moving to Hayden in 1995. While in Hayden, he worked for Beverly’s, and Doc and Crockett’s.
He recently worked in construction.
Survivors include his parents, Karl and Cam Meyer of Illinois; a brother, Greg Meyer, and a sister, Jackie Tucker, both of Illinois; three stepsons, Bert and Steve Turney, both of California, and Mat Turney of Texas; and his grandmother, Jennie Pace of Illinois.

Dee Red Smelterville, Idaho
Memorial service for Dee Wyatt Red, 48, will be today at 1 p.m. at the Assembly of God Church in Pinehurst, Idaho. Shoshone Funeral Service in Kellogg is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Red, who was born in Oklahoma, died Thursday in an automobile accident in Republic, Wash.
He moved to the Silver Valley in 1957 from Oklahoma and attended schools there.
Mr. Red was well known in the local mining community.
Survivors include his wife, Marlene; a daughter, Jody Hensley of Nevada; two sons, Jerry and Phillip Red, both of Nevada; his mother, Lillian Radmer of Smelterville; three sisters, Janice Plummer of Smelterville, Georgine Hendricks of South Dakota and Ann Douglas of Pinehurst, Idaho; a brother, Darryl Red of Pinehurst; and four grandchildren.
Melvin Crow Spokane
Memorial service for Melvin Crow, 81, will be at 2 p.m. today at Crestline Church of the Nazarene. Burial was held at Fairmount Memorial Park. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Crow, who was born in Biggar, Saskatchewan, died Thursday.
He graduated from high school and came to Spokane in 1942.
Mr. Crow worked as an electrician for Maxwell Electric for 38 years. He retired in 1981.
He was a charter member of the Valley Church of the Nazarene, a 43-year member of the Crestline Church of the Nazarene and a 55-year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 73.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Gladys; three daughters, Betty Webb and Marjorie Falway, both of Spokane, and Connie Gentry of Vancouver, Wash.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Blanche Grasser Mesa, Ariz.
Graveside service for Blanche M. Grasser, 85, was held Saturday at Fairmount Memorial Park.
Mrs. Grasser, who was born in Pingree, N.D., died Tuesday.
She came to Spokane in 1944, and was a homemaker.
Mrs. Grasser moved to Mesa one year ago.
Survivors include a brother, Marvin Heimann; a sister, Marjory Weiss; and two grandchildren.

Ruby Trickler Spokane
Funeral for Ruby V. Trickler, 59, will be at 1 p.m. today at Liberty Park United Methodist Church. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A 40-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Trickler died Thursday. She was born in La Grande, Ore.
She was a homemaker and a member of Liberty Park United Methodist Church.
Her husband Robert Trickler preceded her in death.
Survivors include six sons, Robert, David, Timothy, Steven and Larry Trickler, all of Spokane, and Donald Trickler of Salmon, Idaho; a daughter, Roberta Trickler Comstock of Spokane; a brother, Lowel Michael of Elk; and 15 grandchildren.
F.E. ‘Franz’ Vinion Bonners Ferry, Idaho
Service for F.E. “Franz” Vinion, 88, will be held today at 11 a.m. at Bonners Ferry Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Parker Cemetery near Bonners Ferry.
Mr. Franz, who was born in Minnesota, died Tuesday.
He grew up in Montana and later moved to Boundary County, where he was a longtime resident.
Mr. Franz was a wheat farmer and a board member of the Kootenai Valley Reclamation Association. He was also a founding member of the Boundary County Wheat Growers Association, and a member of the Idaho Association of Wheat Growers, Kootenai Valley Rifle Association and served as drainage commissioner in various districts.
He retired from farming in 1984 and moved to Sequim, Wash., in 1987.
Mr. Vinion returned to Idaho in 1993.
He was preceded in death by two wives, Florence in 1935 and Lucille in 1974.
Survivors include four children, Faye Pinson of Sequim, Betty Challinor of Montana, Tom Vinion of Bonners Ferry and Karen Olson of Colton, Wash.; two sisters, Jean Haguewood of Seattle and Bessie Peterson of Montana; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Dorothy Mercer Priest River, Idaho
Memorial service for Dorothy D. Mercer, 68, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Jesus is Alive Church in Newport, Wash. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Mercer, who was born in Lewiston, died Thursday.
She married Don Mercer in 1940 and they lived in Alaska for 18 years, where she ran a trading post in Labouchere Bay. She moved to Sultan, Wash., and then lived in Ione, Wash., for several years. They moved to Priest River six years ago.
Mrs. Mercer was a member of the Jesus is Alive Church in Newport.
Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Sherrie Hill of Sultan, Jennie Muehlberger of Sitka, Alaska, and Verailee Mercer-Kalfas of McGrath, Alaska; a son, Don Mercer of Oldtown, Idaho; 10 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Berl Tanner Coeur d’Alene
Service for Berl Edward Tanner, 77, will be at 2 p.m. today at Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene.
Mr. Tanner, who was born in Lane, Idaho, died Thursday.
He grew up in Lane and graduated from high school in Rose Lake, Idaho, in 1940.
Mr. Tanner worked at Bunker Hill Mining Co. for a short time before serving four years with the Army during World War II.
He later worked for the Forest Service in Coeur d’Alene and moved to Hayden Lake, Idaho, in 1952.
Mr. Tanner moved to Wolf Lodge near Coeur d’Alene in 1973 and was a past member of the Coeur d’Alene Eagles Lodge.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Frances; two daughters, Linda Holecek and Judy Kempton of Athol, Idaho; three sisters, Dulcie Milne of Spokane, and Irene Bowen and Betty Harris, both of Rose Lake; and three grandchildren.
Paulina Berger Spokane
Visitation for Paulina Berger, 58, will be from noon to 6 p.m. today and Tuesday at Heritage Funeral Home. Rosary will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Mass of Christian burial is planned for 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes.
Ms. Berger, who was born in Glen Ullin, N.D., died Thursday.
She graduated from Marycliff High School and worked as a beautician for several years.
Ms. Berger was also a child care worker at St. Joseph’s Children’s Home and operated a daycare in her home.
She was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes and was a 55-year Spokane resident.
Survivors include two brothers, Adam Berger of Spokane and Tony Berger of East Wenatchee, Wash.; a sister, Barbara Muldoon of Bremerton; and two stepsisters, Anna Williams of Spokane and Monica Bazlen of California.
