Virginia Asche Post Falls
Graveside service for Virginia H. Asche, 81, will be today at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery in Post Falls. English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Asche, who was born in Wisconsin, died Friday.
She grew up in Nebraska and received a teaching certificate from Nebraska State Teachers College.
Mrs. Asche taught school and owned a dairy farm in Oregon. She then lived in Alaska and New Hampshire before moving to Coeur d’Alene in 1979.
She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Post Falls.
Her husband, Clarence, died in 1994.
Survivors include two daughters, Jan Griffin of Post Falls and Barbara Duling of New Hampshire; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Eulah Dawson Coeur d’Alene
Visitation for Eulah F. Dawson, 88, will be today from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene. Service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the chapel with burial to follow at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Dawson, who was born in Missouri, died Saturday.
She moved to Worley, Idaho, from Missouri in 1911.
Mrs. Dawson then lived in Elk before moving to Coeur d’Alene in 1920. She was a homemaker.
Her husband, Elton, died in 1983.
Survivors include two sons, Bruce Dawson of Hayden Lake, Idaho, and Roger Dawson of Coeur d’Alene; a sister, Lucille Bro of Coeur d’Alene; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

John Hanson Spokane
Memorial service for John P. Hanson, 72, will be at 1 p.m. today at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Hanson, a 51-year resident of Spokane, died Oct. 5. He was born in Bonners Ferry, Idaho.
He graduated from Lewis and Clark High School and served in the Army during World War II.
Mr. Hanson was a member of the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, the Lions Club and the Spokane Club.
Survivors include two sons, Michael Hanson of Spokane and Jeffrey Hanson of Chicago; and a sister, Joan Degerstrom of Spokane.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Whitworth College Scholarship Fund or to the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist.
Ted Lanterman Coeur d’Alene
Graveside service for Ted D. Lanterman, 72, will be at 2 p.m. today at Pinegrove Cemetery in Rathdrum, Idaho.
Mr. Lanterman, who was born in Salmon, Idaho, died Wednesday.
He grew up in Burke, Idaho, near Wallace, joined the Navy in 1943 and completed boot camp training at Farragut Naval Station.
Mr. Lanterman retired from the Navy in 1966 and then worked for Potlatch Inc., retiring in 1988.
He lived in Rathdrum for 26 years and had recently moved to LaCross Rehabilitation and Health Center in Coeur d’Alene.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Jan; a son, Clint Lanterman; three stepdaughters, Debra, Melanie and Karen; a brother, Glen Lanterman of Otis Orchards; two grandsons and numerous stepgrandchildren.

Rinaldo Greenamyer Spokane
Visitation for Rinaldo R. Greenamyer, 84, will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Funeral is planned for 1 p.m. Friday at the Sunset Mausoleum at Fairmount Memorial Park. Burial will follow.
Mr. Greenamyer, a longtime Spokane resident, died last Tuesday. He was born in Tiger, Wash.
He worked as a manager in the maintenance field.
He wife, Pauline, died in 1974.
Survivors include two sons, Jack and Harry Greenamyer; a daughter, Patricia Hanes; a sister, Mary Magneson; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Jacob Thompson Mullan, Idaho
Service for Jacob W. Thompson, 15, will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Emmanual Lutheran Church in Mullan. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Mullan. Shoshone Funeral Service in Kellogg is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Thompson, who was born in Spokane, died Friday from injuries suffered in an accidental shooting at his home.
He moved to Mullan in 1997 from Missoula.
He was homeschooled and delivered newspapers in the Silver Valley.
Survivors include his parents, Daniel and Josephine Thompson of Mullan; four brothers, Andrew, James and Isaac Thompson, all of Mullan, and David Thompson of Tennessee; two sisters, Rita and Barbara, both of Mullan; and his grandmother, Ursal Zysk of Michigan.
Harold Slater Stanwood, Wash.
Memorial service for Harold Angus Slater, 87, was Sept. 30 at Cedarhome Baptist Church in Stanwood.
Mr. Slater, who was born in Deer Park, died Sept. 25.
He graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in 1928, Whitworth College in 1933 and later from Kinman Business College.
Over the years Mr. Slater worked in several accounting and sales positions in Spokane and Portland, including for S.H. Kress, Shell Oil and Spokane County.
In 1985 he moved to St. Maries. In 1996 he moved to Stanwood, where he was a resident of the Josephine Sunset Home.
Survivors include two sons, Richard Slater of Camano Island, Wash., and Harold Slater of New York; a sister, Marjorie Vertrees of Coulee Dam, Wash.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mildred Weston Spokane
Memorial service for Mildred Weston, 93, will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Holy Names Convent Chapel. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Weston, who was born in Waterville, Wash., died Saturday.
She graduated from Lewis and Clark High School and attended the University of Idaho and Holy Names College before graduating with a master’s degree in English from Gonzaga University.
She taught English literature at Holy Names College for 25 years and was the author of four books of poetry and a biography of Spokane poet Vachel Lindsay.
Survivors include a niece, Carolyn Keating of Seattle, and three great-nephews.

Joseph Huber Spokane
Viewing for Joseph H. Huber, 70, will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls. Memorial service will be Friday at 3 p.m. at the American Legion Post 143 in Post Falls.
Mr. Huber, who was born in Cosmopolis, Wash., died Thursday.
He grew up in Harrison, Idaho, and served with the Army during the Korean War. He settled in Spokane after his military service.
Mr. Huber worked as a laborer for 10 years at Kaiser Aluminum, retiring in 1970 due to disability.
Survivors include a daughter, Marsha Hughes of Missoula; a brother, Charlie Huber of Post Falls; three sisters, Agnes Doty of Coeur d’Alene, Maxine Chambers of Post Falls, and Genevie Miller of Arizona; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Joseph Dupre Spokane
Private service for Joseph A. Dupre, 85, will be held at a later date. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Dupre, who died Friday, was born in Spirit Lake, Idaho.
He worked as a commercial carpenter and was a member of the Eagles Lodge and the Washington and Idaho Carpenters’ Union.
His wife, Betty, died in 1996.
He is survived by a brother, Julius Dupre of Spokane.
Rose Clawson Spokane
Graveside service for Rose M. Clawson, 64, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Evergreen Cemetery in Post Falls. English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Clawson, who died Friday, was born in Wisconsin.
She moved to Post Falls at an early age and moved to Spokane two years ago.
Survivors include two sons, Jim Clawson of Kellogg and Mike Tabert of Spokane; a daughter, Sharon Best of Spokane; one sister, one brother, 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Maxine McEwen Spokane
Funeral for Maxine McEwen, 63, will be at 2 p.m. today at the Sunset Chapel at Fairmount Memorial Park. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Dalhart, Texas, Mrs. McEwen died Saturday.
She worked as a shift supervisor at the Fairview Hospital and Training Center in Salem, Ore., for many years before moving to Spokane in 1983.
Mrs. McEwen worked in home health care in Spokane for one year and volunteered time crocheting hats and scarves for the Spokane Guilds’ School and the Ronald McDonald House.
Survivors include two daughters, Michelle Forsyth of Spokane and Jacqueline Horvat of Vancouver, Wash.; her mother, June Hill of Woodburn, Ore.; a sister, Opal Tomey of Portland; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Vernon Townsend Spokane
Visitation for Vernon T. Townsend, 79, will be from 8 to 11 a.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home. Burial will follow at noon at Fairmount Memorial Park. Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. at Shadle Park Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Townsend, a 30-year Spokane resident, died Thursday. He was born in Camas, Wash.
He served in the Army during World War II and later owned and operated an irrigation equipment company in Ephrata, Wash., for many years before moving to Spokane, where he managed apartment complexes.
Mr. Townsend was a member of the North Spokane Kiwanis, the Disabled American Veterans and Shadle Park Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Williams Townsend; two daughters, Kathryn Black of Spokane and Mary Townsend of Petaluma, Calif.; a son, Dennis Williams of Powell, Wyo.; a sister, Bonnie Irwin of Welches, Ore.; three brothers, Harold Townsend of Colton, Ore., Homer Townsend of Goldendale, Wash., and Robert Townsend of Sandy, Ore.; and four grandchildren.

Clifford Sexton Spokane
Visitation for Clifford J. Sexton, 60, will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home. Funeral is planned for 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
Mr. Sexton, who was born in Castlewood, Va., died Sunday.
He was an Air Force veteran and worked as a custodian for the Postal Service for many years.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a resident of Spokane for 31 years.
Survivors include his wife, Helen; three sons, Shawn Simpson and Justin Sexton, both of Spokane, and Mike Sexton of Mesa, Ariz.; a brother, Jim Sexton of Kingsport, Tenn.; and a sister, Betty Delp of Tennessee.
Iris Evitt Spokane
No service will be held for Iris L. Evitt. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Evitt, who was born in South Wales, England, died Thursday. She was 93.
She was a hairdresser and owned her own beauty salon for many years.
Mrs. Evitt was a member of Heritage Congregational Church and had been a resident of Spokane for the 25 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Michaele Wood of Spokane and Janet Foster of Tampa, Fla.; a brother, Edward Griffin of Victoria, British Columbia; a sister, Shirley Iaci; and five grandchildren.
