Jazz And Java A Brazilian Celebration
The Spokane Spiritual Center, in the Argonne-Mission Center, is putting on a Brazilian celebration for the whole family called “Jazz and Java.” The event includes music by the local Brazilian band Desafinado, and a chance to dance.
You don’t know how to dance in Latin? They have that one covered, too. National dance champion Miguel Cortez will be giving dance lessons for a nominal fee at 7 p.m., before the event starts. By 8, you’ll be nothing but slick moves.
The Spiritual Center’s Valerie Harper-Murdoch said that they are hoping to put on a series of events, including music and theater, at the new facility. The auditorium seats about 200 people, and a dance floor is being brought in.
Harper-Murdoch wanted to stress the family-oriented nature of the event. They are putting together a tropical setting, and juices and espresso drinks will be available.
Jazz and Java at the Spokane Spiritual Center Auditorium, 1445 N. Argonne, begins at 8 tonight and runs to about 11 p.m. Tickets are $10, $7 for seniors or students, and are available at Miracles Bookstore, 1445 N. Argonne, or by calling 891-0745. Dance lesson with Miguel Cortez begins at 7 and is $2.
