State Criticizes Water Systems

Two public drinking water systems in Bonner and Kootenai counties violated state regulations by not routinely monitoring their water for bacteria, according to the Department of Environmental Quality.

The Outlet Bay Water District in Bonner County and the Happy Valley Water System in Kootenai County have not done routine testing for coliform bacteria and have failed to notify their customers that the testing was not done, the DEQ reported.

The DEQ has not received reports of any contamination or illness.
