Hints From Heloise

Dear Heloise: Another use for leftover bread products and even sweet rolls or doughnuts is to use them in bread pudding. I raised four very hungry sons, who loved bread pudding for dessert, and it was not only cheap to make but got rid of a lot of stale bread products.

Just beat an egg with a fork in a casserole dish, any size you want, according to the size of your family. Add 1 or 2 cups milk, again according to size you want. Add torn-up buns, bread, sweet rolls or doughnuts until the milk is almost all soaked up but still very juicy.

If you’re using sugared rolls or doughnuts, you won’t need sugar, otherwise add a couple of teaspoons, shake in some cinnamon, add a teaspoon of vanilla extract and stir well. Bake 1 hour at 350 degrees Fahrenheit and enjoy. - Mrs. Kathleen Licht, Artesia, N.M.
