Rowena (LeFors) Jackson Spokane

Funeral for Rowena B. (LeFors) Jackson, 89, is set for 3 p.m. Thursday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Second Ward. Burial will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Jackson, who was born in Berlin, Ore., died Saturday in Brigham City, Utah.

She graduated in 1928 from Palouse (Wash.) High School and married Glen LeFors in Coeur d’Alene that same year.

Mrs. Jackson was a homemaker and was involved in genealogy. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Her first husband, Glen, and her second husband, Harvey Jackson, both preceded her in death.

Survivors include two sons, Richard LeFors of Newport, Wash., and David LeFors of Willard, Utah; three daughters, Joyce Pattison of Juneau, Alaska, Joann Webb of Baytown, Texas, and Dianna Stevens of Anchorage, Alaska; a brother, Ray McKinney of Kettle Falls, Wash.; a sister, Lola Wall of Palouse, Wash.; 28 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren and 21 great-great-grandchildren.

Ann Johnson Spokane

Memorial service for Ann Johnson, 80, will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Christ Lutheran Church. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Johnson, who died Sunday, was born in Coat Bridge, Scotland.

She received her registered nurse designation in Great Britain, and in 1947, married Melvin Johnson in San Francisco.

Mrs. Johnson moved to Spokane in 1951 and worked as a registered nurse for many years at the Valley Clinic in Opportunity.

She was a member of the Scottish Rite, St. Andrew’s Society, Heather Hoppers, Angus Scott Pipe Band, Montana Highlanders and Lilac City Pipes and Drums.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her husband; a son, Jay Johnson of Columbia Falls, Mont.; two daughters, Jane Smith of Spokane and Barbara Letson of Auburn, Wash.; two brothers, William McCulloch of Portland and Robert McCulloch of South Wales; and four grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Helen Rydbom Spokane

Memorial service for Helen E. Rydbom, 82, is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at Our Saviors Lutheran Church. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Rydbom, who was born in Moscow, Idaho, died Sunday.

She graduated from Concordia College in Moorehead, Minn., and received her master’s degree from the University of Idaho.

Mrs. Rydbom taught high school in Colton, Wash., and Vancouver, Wash.

She was a 42-year Spokane resident, and was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, the Spokane Club and the Spokane District Dental Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Kenneth; a daughter, Sherrie Rydbom, and a son, Michael Rydbom, both of Spokane; two brothers, Arthur Benson of Lewiston and Raymond Benson of Denver City, Texas; and a sister, Myrtle Kara of Fallbrook, Calif.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Eastern Washington Chapter of Alzheimers Association.

Aletta Triber Veradale

Funeral for Aletta E. Triber, 93, will be at 10 a.m. today at the Lutheran Church of The Good Shepherd in Veradale. Burial will follow at Pines Cemetery. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Triber, a 52-year resident of Veradale, died Friday.

She was born in Ridgeway, Iowa, and worked for Boeing in Seattle during World War II.

Mrs. Triber was a homemaker, and a member of the Lutheran Church of The Good Shepherd and the Valley Eagles.

Her husband of 43 years, Art Triber, died in 1966.

She is survived by two daughters, Darlene Evans of Spokane and Lavina Lebahn of Greenacres; three sons, Archie Triber of Greenacres, Delbert Triber of Calexico, Calif., and Darrell Triber of Otis Orchards; 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lutheran Church of The Good Shepherd.

David Zepeda St. Maries

Memorial service for David J. Zepeda, 19, will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Maries. Yates Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Zepeda, who was born in California, died Saturday from injuries suffered in an automobile accident near Bonners Ferry, Idaho.

He moved to Harrison, Idaho, in 1984 and to St. Maries in 1985, where he graduated from high school in 1997.

Mr. Zepeda had been a member of the St. Maries High School Spanish Club, the B.P.A., attended the nationals twice in legal concepts, videotaped sporting events for the school and had served as past vice-president of the Kiwanis Key Club.

He was enrolled as a sophomore in the University of Idaho pre-law program and worked at the UI law library.

Survivors include his parents, Don and Barbara Eckman of St. Maries, and Mario Zepeda of California; two brothers, Todd Fox of Washington and Fabian Zepeda of California; and his grandparents, Jack and Bev Mandeville of Port Orchard, Wash., Charlotte and Lee Fox of Burlington, Wash., and Margaret Riva Palasio of Mexico.

Charles Dotson Spokane

Memorial service for Charles V. Dotson, 70, will be at 2 p.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Garfield (Wash.) Cemetery.

Mr. Dotson, who died Saturday, was a 50-year resident of Spokane.

He was born in Chicago and served in the Marines in 1945 in San Diego.

Mr. Dotson retired from the Spokane Police Department in 1979 after 26 years as a detective.

He was a member of the Spokane Police and Wives Association, the Eagles Lodge No. 2 and Jefferson Street Christian Church, where he was a past board chairman.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Donna; two sons, Charles Dotson of Spokane and Tim Dotson of Chewelah, Wash.; two daughters, Doni Wallin of Salem, Ore., and Betty Anderson of Kirkland, Wash.; a sister, Lois McAndrews of Spokane; and six grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association, Inland Empire Division.

Gerald ‘Jerry’ Gollehon Wilbur, Wash.

Memorial service for Gerald G. “Jerry” Gollehon, 63, will be at 1 p.m today at the New Life Center in Wilbur. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Gollehon, a lifetime resident of Wilbur, died Thursday.

He served in the Army from 1955 to 1961, and grew wheat and barley for 41 years on his Wilbur ranch.

Mr. Gollehon was a Luscombe Pilot, and was a member of the Luscombe Association and the Aircraft Owners Pilot Association.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Janis; a daughter, Geraldine Callahan of Bailey, Colo.; two sons, James and Gerald Gollehon Jr., both of Wilbur; a brother, Jake Gollehon of Whispering Pines, N.C.; and three grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the New Life Center in Wilbur.

Jennie Foss Spokane

Funeral for Jennie I. Foss, 93, will be at 11 a.m. today at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home.

Mrs. Foss, who was born in Freeman, died Sunday.

She moved to Spokane as a child and later was a homemaker.

Her husband, Harold Cort, died in 1969.

Survivors include a son, Weston Foss of Seattle; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Lorraine ‘Larry’ Horton Airway Heights

Private graveside service for Lorraine D. “Larry” Horton, former mayor of Airway Heights, was held at Spokane Memorial Gardens. Memorial gathering will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Airway Heights Baptist Church. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Horton, 76, died Friday.

He was born in Lockridge, Iowa, and served in the Army during World War II in the 29th Division at Omaha Beach on D-Day.

In 1945, he married Joyce Hancock in Plymouth, England.

He was a 37-year resident of Airway Heights, and served on the Spokane County Air Pollution Control board for many years and was a member of the Horton-Strength Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3386.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Linda Bird of Okanogan, Wash.; a brother, Karl Horton of Norwalk, Iowa; and four grandchildren.

Ruby Hoisington Newport, Wash.

Graveside funeral service for Ruby Desta Hoisington, 94, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Newport Cemetery. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Hoisington, who was born in Locke, Wash., died Monday.

In 1922 she married Guy Hoisington in Usk, Wash., and was a homemaker.

She was a lifetime resident of Pend Oreille County, a member of the Cusick Women’s Club and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Her husband died in 1968.

Survivors include three sons, Stan Hoisington of Spokane, Walt Hoisington of California and Gene Hoisington of Weiser, Idaho; a daughter, Diana Schrader of Priest River, Idaho; a sister, Ethel Wilson of Colfax, Wash.; 23 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.

Michael Beck Post Falls

Memorial Mass for Michael John Beck, 15, will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Coeur d’Alene. A reception will follow at the family farm in Post Falls. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Beck, who was born in Spokane, died Friday.

He grew up and attended schools in Post Falls, and was a sophomore at Post Falls High School.

Mr. Beck was a member of the junior varsity wrestling team, the Catholic Youth for Christ at St. George’s parish and the Northwest Rangers 4-H Club, where he raised a steer for the North Idaho Fair.

Survivors include his parents, Don and Kathleen Beck of Post Falls; a brother, James Beck at home; his grandparents, Steve and Dolores Witt of Spokane; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Howard Carter Spokane

Private services were held for Howard W. Carter, 86. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Carter, a lifetime resident of Spokane, died Aug. 25.

He graduated in 1939 from Lewis and Clark High School, and served in World War II in the European Theater from 1940 to 1946 as an airplane mechanic.

In 1966 he married Marie Stone in Colfax, Wash.

Mr. Carter was employed as a splicer for Pacific Northwest Bell from 1946 until his retirement in 1982.

He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 1474, Valley Eagles Lodge No. 3433 and the Senior Bowling League.

Survivors include his wife; a brother, Milton Carter of Boise; a sister, Thelma Rolfrum of Davenport, Wash.; a stepdaughter, Hillary Schaefer of Four Lakes; a stepson, Robert Manson of Spokane; and a stepgranddaughter.

Myrtle (Locke) Chandler Spokane

Visitation for Myrtle Irene (Locke) Chandler, 92, will be from noon to 6 p.m. today and Thursday at Heritage Funeral Home. Graveside service is set for 11 a.m. Friday at Fairmount Memorial Park.

Mrs. Chandler, who was born in Bickleton, Wash., died Sunday.

She moved to Spokane in 1938 and drove trucks at the Galena Air Depot during World War II.

Mrs. Chandler had lived in Walla Walla for several years with her husband, Frank Chandler, where she worked in his wrecking business.

She moved back to Spokane after his death in 1968.

Her first husband, Mitchell De Mario, died in 1927.

Survivors include a son, Edwin Marrello of Cassville, Mo.; a daughter, Rose Gibson of Spokane; a brother, Marion Locke of Spokane; a sister, Salina Rabideaux of Moses Lake; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchildren.

Neil Wallace Spokane

Memorial service for Neil Donald Wallace, 83, will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the First Church of the Nazarene. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Wallace, a lifetime resident of Spokane, died Sunday.

He graduated from North Central High School and became an ordained minister in 1941 after attending the Moody Bible Institute from 1938 to 1940.

Mr. Wallace served in the U.S. Army during World War II, was a member of First Church of the Nazarene and a past president of the Christian Crusades for Children.

He worked at The Crescent for more than 20 years until 1975 when he retired.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Frances; a son, Bill Wallace of McCall, Idaho; a daughter, Lauri Maher of Spokane; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Iva Louderback Spokane

Memorial service for Iva B. Louderback, 90, will be at 4 p.m. today at Manito United Methodist Church. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Louderback, who was born in Denison, Wash., died Monday.

Following her graduation from Deer Park High School and Cheney Normal School, she taught school in southeastern Montana, Deer Park and Kettle Falls, Wash.

In 1934 she married Skip Louderback in Deer Park.

She was a member of the Manito United Methodist Church.

Her husband died in 1989.

She is survived by two daughters, Jane Macdonald of Columbus, Ga., and Carol Sullivan of Colbert; a brother, Cecil Derr of Deer Park; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Leona Elmer Newport, Wash.

Funeral for Leona Ruth “Lee” Elmer, 78, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport. Burial will follow at Newport Cemetery.

Mrs. Elmer, who was born in Hill City, Minn., died Sunday.

She moved from Libby, Mont., to Newport in 1963 and married Chester Elmer in Newport in 1965.

Mrs. Elmer was a homemaker, and was a member of the Spring Valley Mennonite Church.

Survivors include her husband; two brothers, Ben Ridgeway of Seattle and Quenton Ridgeway of Mountlake Terrace, Wash.

Laverne ‘Buddy’ Sevdy Fairfield

Visitation for Laverne “Buddy” Sevdy, 67, will be Thursday from noon to 6 p.m. and Friday from 8-11 a.m. at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Funeral Home. Graveside service will follow at 11 a.m. at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Sevdy, who was born in Coeur d’Alene, died Monday.

He grew up and attended school in Coeur d’Alene and was a member of the Falls Full Gospel Church in Post Falls.

Mr. Sevdy later moved to Fairfield and most recently was a resident at the Good Samaritan Center there.

Survivors include four brothers, Howard and Marvin Sevdy, both of Hayden Lake, Idaho, John Sevdy of Oregon and Delano Sevdy of Spokane.

Bonnie Matthews Chewelah, Wash.

Graveside service for Bonnie Mae Matthews, 93, is set for 11 a.m. Thursday at the Chewelah Memorial Park. Schanzenbach Funeral Home in Chewelah is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Matthews, who was born in Big Horn, Mont., died Sunday.

In 1924 she married Tom Matthews, and they both worked in the shipyards in Bremerton, where she was a welder.

They moved in 1971 to Chewelah from Sultan, Wash., when they sold their service station business.

Her husband died in 1981.

Survivors include a grandson, Bradley Matthews of Deer Park; and a granddaughter, Debbie Strutz of Addy, Wash.
