Cda To Reinstate Leaf Pickup Program
People may again be able to simply rake their leaves into the street this fall.
City staff are proposing the City Council reinstate the practice, ended last year after the city shuttered its compost facility. That meant the city would have had to pay $54,000 to dispose of the leaves at the Kootenai County landfill. That prompted the city to end the practice of sweeping up leaves from the street.
This year, the county has offered to lower the disposal fee to about $4,500. That switch will have to be approved by the City Council.
