Harold Atkins Spokane

Graveside service for Harold W. Atkins, 67, is set for 1 p.m. Tuesday at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Atkins, who died Thursday, was born in Rossville, Ga.

He served in the Air Force and the Navy and retired from the Army after 22 years.

He had been a resident of Spokane since 1952 and retired after 22 years from the city of Spokane Water Department.

He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.

Survivors include his wife, Donna; three sons, William and Harold Atkins, both of Spokane, and Leonard Atkins of Tacoma; a daughter, Melanie Atkins of Spokane; seven stepchildren; two brothers, William Atkins of Kansas City, Mo., and Leon Atkins of Las Vegas; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Spokane or Cancer Patient Care.

Ruth Zimmerman Spokane

Private service was held for Ruth Zimmerman.

Mrs. Zimmerman, a 71-year resident of Spokane, died Wednesday at age 87.

She was born in Cushman, Mont., graduated in 1927 from Sandpoint High School. In 1932 she married Curtis Zimmerman.

Mrs. Zimmerman worked as a title examiner for Spokane Title Co. for 33 years and retired in 1966.

She was Business Woman of the Year in 1962 and was a 70-year member of Covenant Christian Church, a member of the Camera Club and was active in the local chapter of the American Association of Retired Persons.

Her husband died in 1992.

Survivors include a son, John Zimmerman of Blaine, Wash.; two daughters, Judith Litton of Spokane and Ann Clark of Woodbridge, Va.; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Bruce Blummert Spokane

Vigil service for Bruce W. Blummert, 52, is planned for 6 p.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Funeral Mass is set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Charles Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Mr. Blummert, who died Wednesday, was a 27-year resident of Spokane.

He was born in New York City and graduated from Shadle Park High School, Reed College in Portland and Lincoln Law School in Sacramento, Calif.

Mr. Blummert had served in the National Guard and worked for several lawyers as an independent.

He was a member of St. Charles Parish and the Disabled American Veterans.

Survivors include his mother, Teresa Blummert of Spokane; a brother, Gary Blummert of Portland; and a sister, Joan King of Kona, Hawaii.

Edward Norberg Spokane

Memorial service for Edward R. Norberg, 87, is scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Norberg, who was a 54-year Spokane resident, died Wednesday.

He was born in Spokane and worked as a planerman for a lumber mill.

Mr. Norberg was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Maida; two sons, Edward Norberg of Renton, Wash., and Mark Norberg of Aloha, Ore.; a daughter, Nancy Norberg of Spokane; a brother, Clifford Norberg of Green Valley, Ariz.; a sister, Alice Nolan of Wenatchee; three grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
