Cda’S Fill The Boot Kicks Butt
For the seventh year in a row, the Coeur d’Alene Fire Department raised more money for muscular dystrophy than any other department in the state.
Generous giving to the firefighters’ Fill the Boot fund-raiser for the Muscular Dystrophy Association totaled $13,700 this year. Most of the money was tossed into fire boots at the intersection of Government Way and Appleway, where more than $8,000 was collected.
North Idaho fire departments tallied $44,500 in donations this year. Fill the Boot campaigns raised over $12 million nationwide in 1998.
The event is sponsored by Kootenai Electric Cooperative.
Over the last seven years, the Coeur d’Alene department has raised more than $54,000. Some of the money raised will be used for a Lake Coeur d’Alene summer camp for children with neuromuscular diseases.
