County Consolidates 911 With Sandpoint

The Bonner County Commissioners signed an agreement with the city of Sandpoint to consolidate 911 services at their business meeting Thursday.

The agreement puts all dispatchers for the county, fire districts and city under one roof. The city will manage the center with financial help from the county and other agencies. The move was designed to make 911 services more efficient.

Jacque Schremser, a Republican running for Bonner County clerk, advised against the agreement, saying, “All we’re going to be is a cash cow.”

Commissioners Bud Mueller and Dale Van Stone also voted to approve an agreement with Schweitzer Mountain Resort under which the county will give the ski area $15,000 to maintain Schweitzer Mountain Road.

In other business, landowner Todd Sudick demanded fees back that he paid to have a lot line shifted within a subdivision. Sudick complained that he had to pay the county $455 for the line adjustment. His total costs were $1,835.

The county planning director explained that the problem was primarily with an unwieldy state law that requires property to be replatted to shift a lot line. Commissioners did not agree to repay Sudick.
