Easter Eggs Will Be Easy To Find

It being Easter and all, several community Easter egg hunts will be held this weekend in the Spokane and Coeur d’Alene area.

The annual Easter Egg Scramble in Riverfront Park is again being sponsored by 96 Frog-FM. Nearly 2,000 children through age 12 are expected for Saturday’s event and 6,000 eggs will be there for the finding. Check-in is in the Clocktower Meadow with the starting gun going off at noon.

Spokane Christian Center, 8909 E. Bigelow Gulch Rd.,, will host Easter egg hunts at noon and 2 p.m. Saturday. Between 6,000 and 8,000 children usually turn out to search for 35,000 eggs. Some eggs will include coupons for prizes like backpacks, teddy bears, games and toy cars.

Transportation is available for the 2 p.m. hunt. Children will be picked up by bus at 1:15 p.m. at the following elementary schools: Stevens, Bemiss, Longfellow, Holmes, Cooper and Grant, as well as Shadle Park High School and the entrance to the Spokane Valley Mall’s food court. The children will be returned to the pick-up sites at 3:15 p.m. <, More than a thousand children are expected to search the grounds of the Coeur d’Alene City Park for eggs at 1 p.m. Sunday. The annual event, sponsored by the Coeur d’Alene Lions Club, is open to children through age 12. Ice-cream bars will be handed out after the hunt.

The Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and the Fuzziwigs Candy Factory are sponsoring an egg hunt at the Post Falls Outlet Mall at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. The Easter Bunny will be in attendance as children 1 to 9 years old search for chocolate Easter eggs and eggs filled with discount coupons for Factory Outlet stores.

Valleybrook Community Church, 15319 E. Eighth, will host an egg hunt at 10 a.m. Sunday. Kids can search for 3,000 eggs and 15,000 pieces of candy.

COPS Northeast will host an Easter egg hunt at Shaw Middle School, 4106 N. Cook, from 10 to 1 p.m. Saturday. A breakfast will be served at COPS Northeast, 5208 N. Market, from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. Cost: $2.50 adults, $1.50 seniors and children. The Easter Bunny will be in attendance.

The Pullman Parks and Recreation Department will have an Easter egg hunt Saturday in Kruegel Park at the corner of Bilke and South. Children 1 to 4 years old will hunt at 10 a.m., and those 5 to 9 years old will hunt at 10:20 a.m.

The Spokane Hastings stores will host Easter egg hunts this weekend. They begin at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Valley Hastings, 15312 E. Sprague; 8 a.m. Saturday at the North Division Hastings, 7706 N. Division; 11 a.m. Saturday at the South Hill Hastings, 2805 E. 29th; and 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Shadle Hastings, 1704 W. Wellesley. The Easter Bunny will be there.
