Husband Faces Assault Charges
Latah County sheriff’s deputies arrested a man who held officers at bay early Monday after allegedly running his wife off the road.
Steven Slippy, 25, was arrested on charges of aggravated assault and felony injury to a child. Sheriff Jeff Crouch said Slippy surrendered about 1:25 a.m., and no injuries were reported.
Deputies said Slippy’s wife, Shanna, left the couple’s rural Latah County home with their three children after a fight, and he forced her car into a ditch.
Steven Slippy then drove home, deputies said, and his wife and children went to a neighbor’s house, where Shanna called deputies about 8 p.m. Medics checked the couple’s children - ages 5 years to 5 months old - for injuries and determined they were not hurt.
Members of the Sheriff’s Department’s tactical operations team surrounded the couple’s home at 1124 Clanton Road. Sgt. Earl Aston talked Steven Slippy into coming out several hours later.
