Vivian Hamilton Pullman

Visitation for Vivian D. Hamilton, a lifetime Pullman resident, will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Kimball Funeral Home in Pullman. Graveside service is planned for 1 p.m. Friday at the Pullman City Cemetery.

Mrs. Hamilton, 78, died Monday.

She grew up on the family homestead in Pullman, and in 1939 graduated from Pullman High School.

She attended Washington State University, and also worked in the registrar’s office at the university.

In 1942 she married Ralph Hamilton Jr.

Following his return from World War II, she joined him in the family business, Hamilton Distributors, as office manager and bookkeeper. She retired in 1992.

Mrs. Hamilton was a member of the Pullman Bowling League and attended the Pullman Senior Center.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Donna Lee Finch, and a son, Scott Hamilton, both of Pullman; six grandchildren and two great-grandsons.

Memorial contributions may be made to Pullman Memorial Hospital for the Diabetes Education Scholarship Fund.

Richard Triesch Spokane

Funeral Mass for Richard A. Triesch, 74, will be at 10 a.m. today at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Triesch, who was born in Spokane, died Monday.

He attended Gonzaga Prep and Gonzaga University before serving in the Army during World War II in Normandy, France, and Belgium.

Mr. Triesch later worked as a life insurance broker for 40 years.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Empire Club and was a member and served as president of the Spokane Country Club.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Phyllis; three sons, Richard, Bart and Matthew Triesch; two daughters, Patricia Nyberg and Kathryn Mertens; a sister, Esther McCann; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Spokane or Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church.

Barry Geist Spokane

Memorial service for Barry Geist, 55, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.

Mr. Geist, who was born in Allentown, Pa., died July 18.

During his 15 years with the Army, he served in the United States, Vietnam and Germany. He earned several medals and expert badges during his military career.

Mr. Geist recently retired from the physical plant department of the Community Colleges of Spokane, where he had worked for 10 years.

Survivors include his wife, Staci; two daughters, Heidi and Heather, both at home; and his sister, Barbara Chinnici of Shillington, Pa.

D’Eriece Vig Klein Dalton Gardens, Idaho

Memorial service for D’Eriece Wilma Vig Klein, 64, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene. Mrs. Klein, who was born in Driggs, Idaho, died Monday.

She moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1941 from Idaho Falls.

She worked at Modern Drug and Klotz Drug Stores before becoming a checker at Albertsons. She retired after 28 years.

She was a member of Living Hope Church in Coeur d’Alene.

Survivors include two sons, Dale Vig of Spokane and Ron Vig of Clarkston, Wash.; a daughter, Da’Lea Cotter of Otis Orchards; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Albert Kurtz Spokane

Graveside service for Albert G. Kurtz, 82, will be at 11 a.m. today at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A 55-year Spokane resident, Mr. Kurtz died Sunday. He was born in Gardner, N.D.

He served in the Army during World War II, and worked for Kaiser Aluminum Mead Works for 33 years. He was a member of the United Steelworkers Union 329.

Survivors include his wife, Marian; a sister, Deloris Audett of Medical Lake; four brothers, Walt Kurtz of Seattle, Robert Kurtz of Sumner, Wash., and Alvin and LeRoy Bjordahl, both of Spokane.

Justin Barnes Spokane

Memorial service for Justin M. Barnes, 25, will be at 1 p.m. today at Fairmount Memorial Park.

Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A lifetime Spokane resident, Mr. Barnes died Sunday from injuries suffered in an automobile accident on East Deer Lake Road.

Survivors include his girlfriend, Jennifer Eballar, and a son, Alexander Eballar Barnes, both of Spokane; his parents, Joseph and Mary Stearns; a brother, John Stearns, and a sister, Alice Stearns, all of Spokane; and his grandparents, Nancy and Skip Runge of Clayton, Wash.

Daniel Vander Meer Elk

Funeral for Daniel James Vander Meer, 21, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Peaceful Valley Church, 25 miles north of Spokane on Highway 2. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Vander Meer, who was born in Colville, Wash., died Sunday from injuries suffered in an automobile accident on East Deer Lake Road.

He had been working as a salesman.

Survivors include his fiancee, Samantha Schuck; a daughter, Kaylei; his parents, David and Kathy, of Spokane; two brothers, Karl and Michael, both of Spokane; his grandparents, Dal and Joan Vander Meer of Spokane, and Al and Leona Matje of Colville; and his great-grandmother, Gertrude Matje of Clinton, Iowa.

Rudy Cozzetto Spokane

Funeral for Rudy Cozzetto, a longtime Spokane and Loon Lake resident, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Loon Lake, Wash., Cemetery.

Mr. Cozzetto, who was born in Spokane, died Monday. He was 71.

He graduated from North Central High School in 1946. He joined the Army and served in Germany during World War II.

Mr. Cozzetto returned to Spokane following the war and attended Whitworth College. In 1950 he married Beverly Larson.

He graduated from Whitworth in 1952 and began his career in office supplies with Shaw Borden. In 1954 he went to work for Kershaw’s and in 1973 bought the business. Under his operation the business became a four store operation that serviced Spokane and other areas of Washington, Idaho and Montana.

In 1986 he sold the business and stayed on to help for one year, and then went into business for two years liquidating used office furniture.

In 1986 he bought the Kershaw name back and ran the business until 1995, selling the business to his daughter. He stayed on as chairman of the board.

Survivors include his companion, Judy Miller; two daughters, Gayle Kees and Diane Mangano, both of Spokane; a brother, Orest Cozzetto of Marysville, Wash.; and five grandchildren.

Cecil Dyckman Newport, Wash.

Memorial inurnment for Cecil Charles Dyckman, a 16-year Spokane resident, will be at a later date at Hardin (Mont.) Cemetery. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Dyckman, who was born on the family ranch in Lame Deer, Mont., died July 28. He was 86.

He attended school through the eighth grade and then took over the family ranch in Sarpy, Mont. He ran cattle until 1973. He married Sue Jarvi that same year.

Mr. Dyckman was a self-taught craftsman, building his own home and fixing machinery. He also did taxidermy work and made wine.

Survivors include his wife; two children, Orland Larson of Smokey Point, Wash., and Elizabeth Sandberg of Camano Island, Wash.; and three grandchildren.

Carla Pullman Spokane

Funeral for Carla Jean Pullman, 46, is planned for 10 a.m. Friday at Heritage Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

Born in Oakland, Calif., Mrs. Pullman died Sunday.

She was a 31-year Spokane resident and worked in pharmaceutical services for Group Health Corp. for several years.

Survivors include her husband, Terry; a daughter, Jodi; her mother, Dolores Ramey; her father, Donald Moon Sr.; two brothers, Clay and Donald Moon Jr.; three sisters, D’Ette Middleton, Kim Crawford and Audra Moon; and two grandchildren.

Dorothy Ryther Spokane

Funeral for Dorothy L. Ryther, 70, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Riplinger Funeral Home. Private burial will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.

Mrs. Ryther, who died Monday, was born in Gary, Ind.

She was a 28-year Spokane resident, and was a homemaker. She worked as a dispatcher for a trucking company for several years.

Survivors include her husband, Ray Ryther Sr.; three daughters, Carole Leusink and Sandy Schudel, both of Spokane and Donna Nelson of Texas; five sons, William, Donald, Randy and Raymond Ryther Jr., and Gary Knapp, all of Spokane; a sister, Francis Salib of Arizona; 15 grandchildren and six great-granddaughters.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lions Club Eye Bank Fund.

Bernard Miller Spokane

Funeral Mass for Bernard J. “Ben” Miller, 78, is planned for 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Colbert. Burial will follow at Chattaroy Cemetery. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Miller, a 40-year Spokane resident, died Monday. He was born in South Heart, N.D.

He was a dairy farmer in the Spokane area for more than 30 years, and was a member of the Eagles Lodge No. 2.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Vivian; a son, Bruce Miller and a daughter-in-law, Pat Miller, both of Chattaroy; a brother, Roy Miller of Chattaroy; two sisters, Barbara Krushensky and Pauline Hatzenbuhler, both of Dickinson, N.D.; and seven grandchildren.

Maurice Long Spokane

Memorial service for Maurice R. “Mo” Long, 71, will be held at a later date. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Long, who was born in Lewiston and raised in Kendrick, Idaho, died Sunday.

He graduated from the University of Idaho in 1953 with a degree in art and architecture. He was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity.

Mr. Long served in the Army during World War II in the occupation of Japan. He later worked as a real estate agent for several years.

Survivors include his longtime companion, Elnora Wildermuth of Spokane; two daughters, Wendy of Reno, Nev., and Linda of Spokane; two brothers, Trevor Gray and Tom Long, and a sister, Pat Odberg, all of Clarkston, Wash.; and one grandson.

Kenneth Lloyd Spokane

Funeral for Kenneth J. Lloyd, 81, was Tuesday at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Burial was at Holy Cross Cemetery.

A 76-year Spokane resident, Mr. Lloyd died Sunday. He was born in Saskatchewan, Canada.

He was the owner and operator of Ken Lloyd Jewelers in Spokane.

Mr. Lloyd was a member of the Masonic Temple.

His wife of 51 years, Evelyn, died in 1994.

Survivors include two sons, Jim and Steve Lloyd, both of Spokane; a brother, Douglas Lloyd of Spokane; a sister, Joan Richey of Cosmopolis, Wash.; and four grandchildren.
