Girl Calls For Help, Foiling Kidnapper

An attempted kidnapping of a 14-year-old girl was foiled Saturday when she screamed for help outside an East Central convenience store, police said.

A man in his 40s attempted to force the Spokane girl into his Chevrolet Blazer after asking her if she was interested in a modeling career, police said. The man claimed to work for a modeling agency in the Lincoln Building, but told her not to tell her mother about him.

The incident occurred about noon Saturday at the Circle K market at Third and Altamont.

As the man grabbed her arm, the girl called to a nearby friend and her mother, pleading with them to call the police. The man immediately left.

The white man was described as 5-foot-7-inches tall, with short, gray hair, a mustache and goatee. He wore a gold ring on his left hand.

The man was driving a blue-over-gray 1994 or ‘95 Blazer four-door, with a solid gray, exterior stripe and gray leather seats, police said.
