Penny Heyns of South Africa broke the world record for the women’s 100-meter breaststroke at the Pan Pacific swimming championships.

Heyns’ time of 1 minute, 6.52 seconds in a qualifying heat broke her own record of 1:06.95, which she set in Los Angeles on July 19.

It was her fifth world record in a month and she will have two more chances to lower it in the semifinals today and Tuesday’s final.
