Charles Bass Bonners Ferry, Idaho
Service for Charles Eugene Patrick Bass, 27, will be today at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Bonners Ferry. Burial will follow at Paradise Valley Cemetery near Bonners Ferry. Bonners Ferry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Bass, who was born in Indio, Calif., died Wednesday from injuries suffered in an automobile accident near Bonners Ferry.
He attended West Jordan High School in Utah, worked in receiving and inventory control for a traveling circus for two years.
Mr. Bass also worked at several cafes in Utah. In 1994 he married Coral Ashdown.
He moved to Bonners Ferry in 1996 and worked as a custodian for Boundary County School District. He also was a cook at the Three Mile Corner Cafe near Bonners Ferry.
Mr. Bass attended First Baptist Church and was a member of the Turkey Federation, Bass Masters and the National Rifle Association.
Survivors include his wife; three children, Sheldon, Thomas and Corbyn Bass all of Bonners Ferry; his parents, Eugene and Charlotte Bass of Utah; four sisters, Theresa, Michelle, Christine and Louise Bass, and a brother, John Helm, all of Salt Lake City.
John Morrell Spokane
Funeral for John P. Morrell, 62, will be at 11 a.m. today at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South. Burial will be at the Julia Brown Cemetery on the West End of the Spokane Indian Reservation.
A longtime Spokane resident, Mr. Morrell died Wednesday. He was born in Albany, N.Y.
Mr. Morrell graduated from LaSalle Military Institute in 1957 and attended Utica College near Rochester, N.Y.
He was a substance abuse counselor and established a halfway house in Binghamton, N.Y., called the Fairview Inn before moving to Spokane in the late 1960s.
While in Spokane, he was involved with the foundation of the Native American alcohol abuse program.
Mr. Morrell and his wife Carlene, operated C & J Bait for 10 years.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Parish.
Survivors include his wife of 20 years; two brothers, Edward Morrell of Troy, N.Y., and Richard Morrell of Menands, N.Y.
Vera Plock Spokane
Memorial service for Vera Plock, 96, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Knox Presbyterian Church. Committal of the urn will be at Spokane Memorial Gardens. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Endicott, Wash., Mrs. Plock died July 28.
She graduated from Fairbury (Neb.) High School in 1920 and then attended Nebraska Wesleyan University for one year.
In 1928 she married Harry Plock.
They worked for the railroad in Lincoln, Neb., before moving to Spokane in 1929.
Mrs. Plock worked as a stenographer and bookkeeper. She and her husband bought an IGA store at the corner of Washington and Knox in 1947 and operated the store until they retired in 1970.
Her husband died in 1983.
Survivors include a daughter, Myrna Johnson of Chula Vista, Calif.; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Edwin Jordan Spokane
Memorial service for Edwin L. Jordan, a former longtime St. John, Wash., area resident, will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at St. John United Methodist Church. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Jordan, who was born in Randlett, Okla., died Thursday. He was 83.
He earned a degree in agriculture from Southwest Louisiana University, and he moved to the St. John area in 1941.
In 1942 he enlisted in the Army and served in the European Theater during World War II.
He returned to St. John after the war and farmed with his wife, Jean, for 30 years.
Mr. Jordan served as a school board member in St. John, 4-H Leader, was a member of the St. John Horse Club and a volunteer at the St. John Community Fair.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years; two daughters, Patricia Scorgie of Portland and Kathy Kinsley of Tigard, Ore.; a son, Greg Jordan of St. John; and five grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. John Fire Department Emergency Medical Technician Unit or to the St. John Community Fairground/Stock Show.
Bessie Epler Coeur d’Alene
Service for Bessie A. Epler, 92, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Yates-Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries. Graveside service will follow at 3 p.m. at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Epler, who was born in Kalispell, Mont., died Thursday.
She grew up in Cottonwood, Idaho, and Kalispell, and in 1923 married Lloyd Epler.
She farmed near Hardin, Mont., and moved to a ranch near Harrison, Idaho, in 1936.
In 1944 she moved to Harrison Flats and was a rancher before retiring and moving to Coeur d’Alene in 1965.
Mrs. Epler was a member of the St. Maries Community Presbyterian Church.
Her husband died in 1971.
Survivors include two sons, Lester Epler of Norman, Okla., and Charlie Epler of St. Maries; four daughters, Vera Drew of Olympia, Ann Day of Nunn, Colo., Betty Owens of Tyler, Texas, and Connie Aker of Wenatchee; a sister, Clara Hayes of Clark Fork, Idaho; 19 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Glen Wahl Spokane
A memorial gathering for Glen Wahl, a 43-year Spokane resident, is planned for 12:30 p.m. today at the Garden Springs home of his daughter, Julie. Private memorial graveside service will be at Spokane Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Wahl, 70, died Thursday. He was born in Garrison, N.D.
He worked as a construction operating engineer for several years.
Survivors include a son, Quinton; three daughters, Quinsana, Julie and Tina; three brothers; three sisters; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Cairlon Wallace Spokane
Funeral for Cairlon M. Wallace, a longtime Spokane area resident, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Seventhday Adventist Central Church. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Wallace, who was born in Quitman, Ga., died Tuesday. She was 60.
She helped support her husband of 44 years, Victor, during his 20-year service with the Air Force. She also worked for Interlake School in Medical lake for 25 years.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Michael, Jeffrey and Victor Wallace Jr.; four daughters, Valencia Tobias, Patrice O’Neal, Adrienne Gorder and Christen Wallace; two brothers, John Wiggins of Miami and Larry Wiggins of Georgia; and 11 grandchildren.
Betty Mathers Spokane
Graveside inurnment for Betty Mathers, 72, will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Holy Cross Cemetery. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Mathers, who was born in Yakima, died Tuesday.
She graduated from Ellensburg High School and later moved to Spokane.
Mrs. Mathers worked for the J.L. Cooper family as Mr. Cooper’s personal secretary for 35 years before she began working at the Cooper George Apartments.
When the apartments were sold, she began working for the Catholic Diocese of Spokane, and retired from the Parish Services Office in 1992.
She is survived by a sister, Alice Murphy of Los Osos, Calif.
Dianna Duncan Spokane
Private service for Dianna J. Duncan, a longtime Spokane resident, was held.
Mrs. Duncan, who was born in Maryville, Mo., died Thursday. She was 40.
She attended Lewis and Clark High School, graduated from Jantz High School and attended Spokane Community College.
Mrs. Duncan worked at Sonnenberg Market on East Sprague for several years.
Survivors include her fiance, Russell Ryals; four children, Christie Duncan, Nolan and Rayna Delcambre and Tarin Gaines; her mother, Dianna Duncan, and three sisters, Cecilia Holland, Lyla Norris and Roberta Florez, all of Spokane; and three grandchildren.
