Voting Today On Bonds To Fix Water Systems
St. Maries residents will vote today on a $1.9 million revenue bond needed to complete improvements to their city’s aging water system.
Voting will be from noon to 8 p.m. at City Hall, 602 College.
Most of the construction project, scheduled to begin this spring if approved, will be funded with $4.75 million from the Environmental Protection Agency. The city plans to build a plant that would remove disease-causing bacteria from its main source of water, Rochat Creek. It is also adding wells to serve as a backup supply, and plans to repair miles of leaking water mains.
The $1.9 million bond will add about $11 to monthly water bills.
