Majewski Gets Romantic With Chopin, Dvorak

The Spokane String Quartet and guest pianist Tadeusz Majewski are celebrating Valentine’s Day Sunday with a concert of romantic music by Frederic Chopin and Antonin Dvorak.

The Polish-born Majewski will begin the program with solo works by Chopin including nocturnes, waltzes, etudes and mazurkas, ending with the Ballade in G minor.

Majewski has won a number of important awards, from the first prize in the 1977 Chopin Society Competition in Warsaw to his 1997 McKnight Artist Fellowship. He will join the Spokane String Quartet for a performance of Dvorak’s Piano Quintet, Op. 81.

The concert begins at 3 p.m. Sunday at The Met. Tickets are $15, $12 for seniors, $6 for students, and are available at Hoffman Music and G&B outlets, 325-SEAT or (800) 325-SEAT.
