Hints From Heloise

Dear Heloise: I have an idea for cooks or bakers who cannot afford a cookbook stand like those I have seen in catalogs.

Cover your open cookbook with a sheet of plastic wrap, enough to cover, and fold a little under the book cover at the sides.

I must admit I am a messy baker at times, and this really saves the pages from flour dusting or oil or sticking together. - Jennifer Adams, Spokane

Dear Heloise: To save leftover spaghetti sauce, place it in a small plastic freezer bag, expel all the air, flatten out the sauce and freeze it flat.

The next time you need sauce in a hurry, you can thaw it in no time at all. - M. Paux

This is a winner of a hint, and it is especially good when you have limited freezer space. It works with hamburger meat, too. - Heloise
