Robert Herro Sun City, Ariz.
Service for Robert C. Herro, 68, will be at 11 a.m. today at Holy Cross Cemetery Chapel. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A longtime Spokane resident, Mr. Herro died Saturday. He was born in Milwaukee, Wis.
He served with the Air Force for 20 years.
Mr. Herro graduated with a degree in parks and recreation administration from Eastern Washington University and retired from The Spokesman-Review, where he worked as a district manager in the circulation department.
He served as the athletic director for the Spokane Elk’s Club for several years and earned a second-degree black belt in Judo while serving with the Air Force overseas. He was also an avid golfer, promoting and running many tournaments in the Spokane area.
Mr. Herro spent his winters in Arizona.
Survivors include his wife, Dixie; a son, Kevin Herro of Spokane; two brothers, John Herro of Denver and Kenneth Herro of Milwaukee.

Sylvia (Rasor) Charest Lake Havasu City, Ariz.
Funeral for Sylvia Marion (Rasor) Charest, 89, will be at 11 a.m. today at Fowler United Methodist Church in Spokane. Private burial will be at Spokane Memorial Gardens. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Charest, who was born in Medimont, Idaho, died Monday.
She was a 40-year member of the Fowler United Methodist Church, where she was active in the United Methodist Women. She also was a member of the Sinto Senior Center, North Star Senior Center and YMCA.
Mrs. Charest spent her last three winters in Lake Havasu City.
Her husband of 61 years, Gordon, died in 1993.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol Ring of Spokane and Maxine Quintana of Lake Havasu City; two sons, Lee Charest of Clarkston, Wash., and Hugh Charest of Seattle; a brother, Neil Rasor of Spokane; two sisters, Frances Shinn of Caldwell, Idaho, and Alice Burmeister of Sprague, Wash.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Fowler United Methodist Church in Spokane or Lake Havasu Hospice.
Josephine (Perfetti) Seghetti Spokane
Vigil for Josephine Mary (Perfetti) Seghetti, 87, will be at 7 p.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Funeral Mass is planned for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.
A lifetime Spokane resident, Mrs. Seghetti died Monday.
She was a homemaker and a member of the parishes of St. Francis Xavier, St. Charles and St. Aloysius.
Mrs. Seghetti had been a resident of Riverview Assisted Living for the past nine years.
Om 1928 she married Jimmy Nigro and he died in 1929. She married George Perfetti in 1931, he died in 1967. In 1968 she married Julius Seghetti and he died in 1990.
Survivors include two daughters, Leorita Loft and Donna Perfetti; three stepdaughters, Gloria Goodpaster, Marlene Gurdin and Margaret Murphy; a sister, Mary Pielli; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Arnold Pierce Spokane
Memorial service for Arnold L. Pierce, 78, will be at 1 p.m. today at Plymouth Congregational Church. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Pierce, who was born in Hempstead, Long Island, died Tuesday.
He moved with his family to Deary, Idaho, where he graduated from high school.
Mr. Pierce attended the University of Idaho before being drafted by the Army and serving during World War II.
After serving for three years in the Aleutian Islands, he was honorably discharged and began working for Kaiser Aluminum Trentwood. He retired after 25 years.
He married Evelyn Sledge in 1987.
Survivors include his wife; a cousin, Muriel Luce; and numerous stepchildren.

Betty Koefod Spokane
Memorial service for Betty L. Koefod, 77, will be at 7 p.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home.
A 70-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Koefod died Sunday from injuries suffered in an automobile accident. She was born in Boise.
Mrs. Koefod worked as a pharmaceutical assistant for several years.
She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary Post 51 and Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary Post 45.
Her husband, Douglas, died in 1979.
Survivors include a son, Dana Koefod of Spokane; two daughters, Debbie Wilke of Lacey, Wash, and Lisa Olson of Spokane; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or Disabled American Veterans Post 45.
Gwendolyn Therien Clark Fork, Idaho
Service for Gwendolyn Marie Therien, 68, will be today at 1:30 p.m. at the Clark Fork Senior Citizen Center. Burial will be at Clark Fork Cemetery. Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Therien, who was born in Clark Fork, died Monday from lupus.
A lifelong resident of Clark Fork, she was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Clark Fork Pinochle Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard.
Survivors include three sons, Charles “Gus” Therien of Kennewick, Richard “Woody” Therien of California and Howard “Bicker” Therien of Boise; two daughters, Muriel “Pruny” Frank of Hayden, Idaho, and Hazel Horn of Spokane; and her longtime companion, Jack Anderson of Clark Fork ; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Jerry Hayden Spokane
Memorial service for Jerry W. Hayden, 62, will be at 2 p.m. today at the Fairchild Air Force Base Chapel. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A 22-year Spokane resident, Mr. Hayden died Monday. He was born in East St. Louis, Ill.
Mr. Hayden was a tech sergeant in the Air Force and retired in 1976.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Bridget; a son, Lee Hayden of Phoenix; three brothers, Kenneth Hayden of Panama City, Panama, Robert Hayden of Melbourne, Fla., and Leslie Hayden of Kansas City, Mo.; and a sister, Shirley Durbin of Pontiac, Ill.
John Adams Colfax, Wash.
Memorial service for John F. Adams, 68, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Colfax United Methodist Church. Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Adams, who was born in Zillah, Wash., died Tuesday.
He grew up in the Zillah area, graduating from Sunnyside (Wash.) High School in 1948.
Mr. Adams later graduated from the University of Washington, where he was involved in ROTC before serving with the Army in Greenland.
After his discharge, he returned to the University of Washington and earned his master’s and doctorate degrees.
He taught at the University of Denver and the University of California before accepting a position at Washington State University in 1968. He retired as a professor of English in 1992.
Mr. Adams was a member of the Colfax Eagles Lodge, Colfax Elks Lodge and the Modern Language Association.
He wrote several books, including a murder mystery, a gardening book on raising backyard fowl, a book on beekeeping and a book on home-brewing.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Emily; three daughters, Hannah Medina of Spokane, Stephanie Adams of Chapel Hill, N.C., and Susan Adams of Seattle; and a brother, Bill Adams of Gresham, Ore.

Jannette Hastings Spokane
Funeral for Jannette E. Hastings is planned for 11 a.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home.
A longtime Spokane resident, Mrs. Hastings, 82, died Sunday. She was born in Brockton, Mont.
She worked as a legal secretary for Winston and Cachatt Law Office for many years.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Donald; a son, Jay Hastings of Seattle; and a brother, Loren Rice of Great Falls, Mont.

Fern Olson Fullerton, Calif.
Funeral for Fern A. Olson, 91, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Central Lutheran Church. Graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at Fairmount Memorial Park. Gall and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Olson, who was born in Greenfield, Iowa, died Feb. 11.
She graduated from Hover (Wash.) High School before attending Washington State College and the University of Idaho.
She married Joseph Olson in 1927, and they lived in Moscow, Idaho, until moving to Spokane in 1941.
Mrs. Olson was a full-time volunteer at the Holden Village Lutheran Retirement Center in Chelan, Wash., for several years.
She was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Central Lutheran Church, and was a past president of the American Lutheran Church Women.
Her husband, Joseph, died in 1961.
Mrs. Olson moved to Fullerton in 1997 to be near family.
Survivors include two daughters, Donna Wallis of Fullerton and Jean Peterson of Spokane; a son, Richard Olson of Minneapolis; 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church or Central Lutheran Church.
Justin Eide Spokane
Funeral for Justin G. Eide, 15, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Heritage Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Riverside Memorial park.
Eide, who was born in Portland, died Tuesday.
He was a student at Glover Middle School, where he was an honor student and was involved in wood shop.
Survivors include his parents, Micki and John Eide; a brother, Paul Eide of Ohio; a sister, Beth Moore of Spokane; and his grandfather, Roger Eide of Portland.

Robert Bartow Spokane
Funeral Mass for Robert J. Bartow, 77, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Resurrection Anglican Church. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North is in charge of arrangements.
A 40-year Spokane resident, Mr. Bartow died Sunday. He was born in Germany.
Mr. Bartow graduated from Pullman High School in 1939 and served with the Army in Europe during World War II.
He returned to Pullman after the war and received a degree in accounting from Washington State College in 1950.
Mr. Bartow began working as a certified public accountant for Murphey Favre in Pullman and later at the Spokane Farm Credit Bank. He retired from Cenex in 1991 after 10 years.
Mr. Bartow was a 25-year member of the Resurrection Anglican Church.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Almarose; two sons, Robert Bartow of Liberty Lake and Gordon Bartow of Spokane; three daughters, Bonnie Kirkpatrick, and Tamara and Jill Bartow, all of Spokane; a brother, Richard Bartow of Lutz, Fla.; and three grandchildren.

Zola Etier Spokane

A 25-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Etier died Tuesday. She was born in Oroville, Wash.
She worked as a clerk in a grocery store for several years.
Mrs. Etier was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Grand Coulee Dam Chapter.
Survivors include her husband of 25 years, Frank; a son, George Walberg of West Virginia; a daughter, Esther DeRusha of Whitefish, Mont.; a brother, Bud Walling of Alaska; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Maree Bybee Spokane
Vigil for Maree E. Bybee, 76, will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Funeral Mass is planned for 11 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony Catholic Church.
A 49-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Bybee died Wednesday. She was born in Miles City, Mont.
Mrs. Bybee was a homemaker and a member of the St. Anthony Parish and Altar Society and St. Jude’s Guild. She served as secretary for the Spokane Executive Association and was a member of St. Vincent dePaul Society and Spokane Garden Club.
Her husband, Ken Bybee Sr., died in 1988.
Survivors include four sons, Richard and Barry Bybee, both of Spokane, Kenneth Bybee of Topeka, Kan., and Michael Bybee of Lake Oswego, Ore.; four daughters, Belinda Fadeley and Susan Gasch, both of Spokane, Mary Simonsen of Pullman and Lisa Bybee of Front Royal, Va.; a sister, Monica Beeler of Rosalia, Wash.; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Charles McCoy Spokane
Memorial service for Charles E. McCoy, 71, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home.
Mr. McCoy, who was born in Pasco, died Monday.
He worked for the phone company for several years before moving to Colfax, Wash., and Walla Walla.
In 1961 he moved to Spokane and worked for Pacific Northwest Bell for 36 years before retiring in 1982.
Mr. McCoy was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of American and Five Mile Grange Committee.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Dolores; two sons, Charles and Steven McCoy; two daughters, Cathy Riddle and DeAnna McCoy; a sister, Florence Motter; and a brother, Thomas McCoy; and nine grandchildren.
