Ehlos Create Scholarship For WSU
Former Washington State Basketball great Craig Ehlo and his wife, Jani, have established the Ehlo-Webb Endowed Athletic Scholarship.
The $100,000 endowment was announced at halftime of Saturday’s WSU-Stanford game. The endowment is named in honor of Craig’s parents, William and Ermadene Ehlo, and Jani’s parents, Ron and Betty Webb.
The scholarship will be given annually to a WSU men’s basketball or baseball player.
Craig Ehlo was a two-year member of the WSU basketball team and was a senior starter on the 1983 squad that went 23-7 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. He had a 14-year career in the NBA that included stops with Houston (three years), Cleveland (seven years), Atlanta (three years) and Seattle (one year).
Last fall, Ehlo served as a volunteer student assistant coach for the basketball team while completing work for his degree. He currently provides color commentary for radio broadcasts of WSU home basketball games.
Jani is a 1983 graduate of WSU. Her late father played baseball during the 1950s for WSU. She also has two brothers, Steve and Stan Webb, who played baseball for the Cougars in the 1980s.
Ehlo and his wife reside in Spokane with their three children.
