Highlanders Gain Spot In District Lineup

Shadle Park rounded out the District 8 4A boys basketball field by eliminating University 50-44 in a Greater Spokane League tiebreaker at North Central.
Andrew McGinn’s three first-half 3-pointers helped the Highlanders take a double-digit lead.
Shadle, as the No. 6 seed, will open district Tuesday night at No. 3 Gonzaga Prep (15-5). The night’s other game will have No. 5 Rogers (11-9) at No. 4 Lewis and Clark (13-6). Both games are loser-out.
No. 1 Central Valley (19-1) and No. 2 Ferris (18-2) have opening-round byes.

Eric Deno scored a season-high 34 points and added five rebounds and four assists as the visiting Eagles, ranked No. 7, defeated the Bantams to end their regular season.
WV’s Ryan Spivey and John Focht added eight rebounds apiece.
The same teams will meet again to open the District 7 3A tournament Tuesday night at 8 at East Valley. Cheney (10-9) and EV (13-7) will open district play at WV at the same time.

The Bantams defeated the visiting Eagles and tied them for third place as the regular season ended.
The teams had a postgame free-throw shoot to determine the third and fourth seeds to the District 7 3A tournament. Clarkston earned the No. 3 spot by hitting 9 of 10 to WV’s 4 of 10.
District will open Tuesday with a pair of 6 p.m. games. WV plays No. 1 Cheney (13-7) at East Valley, and Clarkston plays No. 2 EV (12-8) at WV.
