Official Resigns, Blames Colleagues

From Staff

Latah County Commissioner Tom Spangler resigned from office Monday, just two months after voters elected two Democratic commissioners as his counterparts.

Spangler, who has served 14 years on the commission over the last two decades, is expected to submit an official resignation by Friday. He said in an interview with the Lewiston Morning Tribune that his colleagues Loreca Stauber and political newcomer Sam Duncan disregarded his opinions and created a negative atmosphere that essentially forced him from office. Stinging from a recent story that highlighted Spangler’s attendance at only 5 of 11 meetings since January, Spangler also accused the Moscow-Pullman Daily News of biased reporting on county issues.
