Around the Big West
Ramel Lloyd scored 22 points to lead Long Beach State to a 83-75 win over Pacific, giving the 49ers the No. 2 seed in the West Division and a date with Idaho in the first round of the Big West Tournament.
Idaho, which plays its final regular season game today in Moscow against Boise State, is the No. 3 seed in the East Division. The Vandals-49ers first-round game will be at 8:30 p.m. Thursday in Reno, Nev.
In other first-round matchups Thursday, Santa Barbara faces Utah State, New Mexico State plays Pacific and Boise State takes on Fullerton State.
In other Big West action Saturday, Charles Gosa extended his late-season scoring tear, finishing with 23 points Saturday as New Mexico State beat Nevada, 65-58. Gosa was 10 of 14 from the field and added 12 rebounds for his fourth double-double in the last six games. Over the last four games, Gosa has averaged just under 23 points a game… . North Texas continued its late-season rally, overcoming an 12-point deficit to defeat Utah State 94-90 behind 35 points by freshman Deginald Erskin. After starting the season 1-21, the Eagles won three of their final regular-season games.

Harold Arceneaux scored 18 points and had nine rebounds to lead Weber State to 77-57 victory over Northern Arizona, clinching the Big Sky Conference regular season title. Both teams received first-round byes in the Big Sky Conference tournament, which begins Thursday in Ogden at the Dee Events Center… . Derrick Higgins scored 22 points helping visiting Cal State Northridge record a season-high for points in a lopsided 99-65 win over Sacramento State. … Nate Holmstadt tied his career-high with 34 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead Montana State to a 94-86 victory over Portland State. Seniors Danny Sprinkle, Mike Henry and Holmstadt were key in their final game in Brick Breeden Fieldhouse. Sprinkle, who had eight points in the final 2:43, finished with 20 points. Henry had seven points, two assists and three rebounds in the final 4:45, and finished with nine points, eight rebounds and five assists.
