Opal (Russell) Cummings Kellogg

Memorial Mass for Opal A. (Russell) Cummings, 81, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Kellogg. Shoshone Funeral Service in Kellogg is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Cummings, who was born in Big Timber, Mont., died Tuesday.

She lived in the Silver Valley for many years and worked as a cook at the Sunshine Inn and also managed the Kellogg City Pool.

Mrs. Cummings was a member of St. Rita’s Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters and was a former organist for the church. She also was a member of the Kellogg Eagles Auxiliary, the United Steelworkers Auxiliary and the Women’s Benefit Association.

Her husband of 60 years, Lewis, died in 1996.

Survivors include eight children, Ronald Cummings of Lakeshore, Wash., Martha Conger of Coeur d’Alene, Nancy Heinig of Moses Lake, Sandy Cuddie and Albert Cummings, both of Kellogg, Lola Potts of Post Falls, Cathy LaFantasie of Colorado, and Mary Marshall of Cataldo, Idaho; two brothers, Red Russell of Wallace and Stewart Russell of Kingston, Idaho; a sister, Joanne Wegner of Hayden Lake, Idaho; numerous grandchildren; and several greatgrandchildren.

Paul Rozell Jr., D.D.S. Spokane

Memorial service for Paul W. Rozell Jr., D.D.S., will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Riplinger Funeral Home. Private burial will be at Spokane Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Rozell, who was born in Spokane, died Monday. He was 76.

He graduated from Cheney High School in 1940 and attended Eastern Washington University for two years before serving in the U.S. Army during World War II.

After the war, Mr. Rozell continued at Eastern Washington University for one more year before enrolling in the dental program at the University of Washington. He graduated in 1950.

Mr. Rozell practiced dentistry in Millwood for 30 years, retiring in 1982.

He was a member and past master of the Concordia Masonic Lodge 249, a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies, El Katif Shrine Temple, Moonshriners Unit, Valley Shrine Club, Royal Order of Jesters, West Valley Kiwanis Club, Berean Bible Church and the Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Rozell also served on the West Valley School Board for 12 years, and was a member and past president of the Spokane Dental Society.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Marjorie; two sons, Eric Rozell of Kalispell, Mont., and David Rozell of Fort Riley, Kan.; a daughter, Barbara Graham of Salem, Ore.; a sister, Ruth Frasier of Carmel, Calif.; and five grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children.

Maxine Jennings Federal Way, Wash.

Memorial service for Maxine Nicolls Jennings, 78, is planned for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Auburn (Wash.) First Methodist Church. Bleitz Funeral Home in Bellevue, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Jennings, who was born in Lily, Ill., died Dec. 22.

She worked as a music specialist and coordinator for Spokane School District 81 for many years. She retired in 1982 and moved to Federal Way.

Mrs. Jennings was a member of the Lynden Golf and Country Club in Puyallup, Wash.

Survivors include her husband, Brian; a daughter, Sharon Hegewald of Auburn, Wash.; three brothers, Eugene, Calvin and Loran Miller; a sister, Martha Miller; and two grandchildren.

Violet (Ricks) Miller Spokane

No service will be held for Violet M. (Ricks) Miller. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of arrangements.

A 65-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Miller died Monday at the age of 79. She was born in Antelope, Idaho.

She graduated from North Central High School.

She worked as an attendant counselor at Lakeland Village, retiring after 17 years.

Survivors include a daughter, Janet Morey of Culver, Ore.; three sons, Michael Miller of Spokane, Don Richmond of Tucson, Ariz, and Christopher Miller of Medical Lake; a sister, Erma Pryor, and a brother, Quentin Ricks, both of Coulee Dam; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Delores Gamble Coeur d’Alene

Memorial service for Delores Gamble, 69, will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene.

Ms. Gamble, who was born in Livingston, Mont., died Sunday.

She moved to Coeur d’Alene in her childhood. She worked at Burger King and retired from Kmart.

Survivors include her companion of 21 years, Leonard Reed of Coeur d’Alene; three sons, Brian, Mark and Alvin Halfhide, all of Coeur d’Alene; a daughter, Diane Johnson of Coeur d’Alene; her mother, Lettie Russell of North Dakota; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Margaret Waller Spokane

Funeral Mass for Margaret C. Waller, 82, was Monday at St. Mary’s Presentation Catholic Church in Deer Park. Burial was at Holy Cross Cemetery.

A longtime Spokane resident, Mrs. Waller died Dec. 20. She was born in Monroe, Mich.

She graduated from Marycliff High School. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary’s Presentation Catholic Church and the altar society in Deer Park.

Her husband of 50 years, Jack, died in 1986.

Survivors include two sons, Darroll Waller of Spokane and Harvey Waller of Deer Park; three daughters, Helen Larson-Gudiel of Spokane, Lou Ella McGaughey of Seattle and Julie Sharlock of Federal Way, Wash.; two sisters, Winnie Gibson of Seattle and Jean Lund of Bellevue, Wash.; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Inland Northwest Multiple Sclerosis Society or the American Cancer Society.

Lucille Yapp Spokane

Memorial service for Lucille R. Yapp, 70, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at East Valley Baptist Church. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A 31-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Yapp died Sunday. She was born in Gresham, Ore.

Mrs. Yapp worked as a housekeeper at a nursing home.

Her husband, Ray, died in 1993.

Survivors include two daughters, Darlene Weyand and Lily Yapp, both of Mead; five sons, Rodney and Ray Yapp, Jr., both of Greenacres, Robin Yapp of Spokane, Ron Yapp of Veradale and Richard Yapp of Newman Lake; two brothers, Harold Bolton of Yuma, Ariz., and Edward Bolton of Wilbur, Wash.; a sister, Loretta Vance of Salinas, Calif.; 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Union Gospel Mission.

Genevieve Harris-Jensen Spokane

No service will be held for Genevieve Harris-Jensen, 93. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A 76-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Harris-Jensen died Dec. 25. She was born in Rossland, British Columbia.

She moved to Spokane from Victoria, British Columbia, and worked as a secretary for Jensen Byrd.

In 1939 she married J. Scott Jensen. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Harris-Jensen was a active with the Red Cross during World War II and was a member of the Spokane Country Club.

Survivors include two nieces, Jean Higgins of Bellevue, Wash., and Peggy Morse-Cunningham of Spokane; two nephews, Edward Morse and Stanley Jensen, both of Spokane.

Pauline Lynch Ione, Wash.

No service will be held for Pauline Alice Lynch at her request. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Lynch, who was born in Republic, Wash., died Saturday. She was 83.

She married Charles Lynch in 1935 and worked with mentally disabled children at Lakeland Village for many years.

Mrs. Lynch lived in Ione for the past 13 years.

Her husband died in 1977.

Survivors include a son, Frank Lynch of Ione; a brother, Art Kells of Republic; a sister, Katie Hamilton of Davenport, Wash.; and one grandson.

Nadine Walson Sandpoint

Service for Nadine I. Walson, 71, will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint. Burial will be at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Sandpoint.

Mrs. Walson, who was born in Iowa, died Tuesday.

She graduated from Sandpoint High School and then moved to Spokane.

Mrs. Walson returned to Sandpoint in the 1940s and worked as a nurses aide and then as a licensed practical nurse at Bonner General Hospital for 22 years, retiring in 1996.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Ray; three sons, Edward Walson of New Orleans, and Brian and Bruce Walson, both of Sandpoint; three daughters, Karen Bangeman of Silverdale, Wash., and Jannice Mattingley and Lorraine Johnson, both of Sandpoint; a brother, Donald Anderson of Moscow, Idaho; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Pearl Clinton Poulsbo, Wash.

No service will be held for Pearl E. Clinton, 95, at her request. Bleitz Funeral Home in Seattle is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Clinton, who was born on a farm in Stevens County, died Saturday.

She attended Lewis and Clark High School and later worked as a dairy lab technician at the Arden Farms Dairy, retiring in the 1960s.

Mrs. Clinton had been a resident of Poulsbo for the last four years.

Her husband, Neil, died in 1995.

Survivors include a son, Howard Clinton of Bainbridge Island, Wash.; and two grandchildren.

Evelyn Conner Spokane

Private family service was held for Evelyn Conner, 75.

A 50-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Conner died Tuesday. She was born in Berthold, N.D.

She worked as an accountant for McKeson-Robbins Pharmacy for 23 years, retiring in 1987.

Mrs. Conner was a member of the Eagles Lodge No. 2 Auxiliary and the Lilac Bowling League.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Vayne; a son, Greg Conner of Seattle; two sisters, Dagney Stearns of Seattle and Lida Nelson of Wenatchee; and one granddaughter.

Charles Dehmer Spokane

Memorial service for Charles E. Dehmer, 79, was Tuesday at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home.

A 25-year Spokane resident, Mr. Dehmer died Sunday. He was born in Great Falls, Mont.

He served in the Army during World War II and later worked at Ladd Air Force Base in Alaska.

Mr. Dehmer retired in 1973 and moved to Spokane where he was a member of the Eagles Lodge No. 2.

Survivors include a brother, Don Dehmer of Spokane; and a sister, Margorie Karpinski of Spokane.

Clarence `Red’ Koenig Spokane

Family graveside service for Clarence W. “Red” Koenig, 79, will be held in Chetek, Wis., at a later date. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Koenig, who was born in St. Paul, Minn., died Saturday.

He served in the U.S. Air Force and later worked as a film director for KXLY-TV for 30 years.

Mr. Koenig was a member of Emmanuel Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth; two daughters, Terri Audley and Jean Micken; a son, Ronald Koenig; a brother, Robert Koenig; and five grandchildren.

Judith Ensminger Inchelium, Wash.

Memorial service for Judith P. Ensminger, 47, was Monday at St. Michael’s Mission Church in Inchelium.

Mrs. Ensminger, who was born in Okanogan, Wash., died Dec. 23.

She graduated from Inchelium High School in 1970.

She lived in Chicago for a few years before moving to Colville in 1986. Mrs. Ensminger then moved to Spokane where she lived for 12 years before returning to Inchelium three months ago.

Survivors include a daughter, Kym Ensminger of Lawrence, Kan.; a son, Donovan Ensminger of Spokane; a sister, Terry Jondrow of Kettle Falls, Wash.; a brother, Orin Jordan, Jr., of Colville; and four grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Margaret Gold Spokane

Graveside memorial service for Margaret Gold, 92, will be at 11 a.m. Jan. 9 at Spokane Memorial Gardens. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Gold, who was born in Acorn, Tenn., died Dec 16.

She moved with her family to St. Ignatius, Mont., and in 1929 married Clint Gold in Spokane, where they have resided since.

Mrs. Gold was a member of the Daughters of the Nile, El Karnak Temple No. 6 and the Order of Eastern Star White Rose Chapter 230.

She was also a volunteer at the Spokane Blind Center for many years.

Survivors include her husband, and a sister, Blanche Fitz of Spokane.

Diann `Candy’ Lindley Spokane

Funeral for Diann Candice “Candy” “Rosannadanna” Lindley, 45, was Monday at the Sunset Chapel at Fairmount Memorial Park. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

A lifetime Spokane resident, Miss Lindley died Dec. 21.

She worked for NOVA, a specialized community access television program, for several years.

Survivors include her mother, Dolle Lindley; a sister, Cathryn of Spokane; and a brother, Robin of Seattle.

Robert Stetzel Spokane

No service will be held for Robert Lee Stetzel, 22, at his request. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A 10-year Spokane resident, Mr. Stetzel died Thursday. He was born in Helena, Mont.

Survivors include a daughter, Nakayla Sandros of Spokane; his mother and stepfather, Cora Rosencrantz and Robert Smith of Spokane; and a brother, Cory Smith of Spokane.
