Sen. Hillary?

Hillary Rodham Clinton’s supporters quietly are circulating her name as a possible candidate to run for the U.S. Senate from New York in 2000. Though close aides and confidants say the first lady is not actively considering a Senate bid, she has not ruled out the idea. As Clinton enjoys some of her highest approval ratings ever, she is being encouraged to run for the seat of retiring Democratic Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan. Friends say the first lady has several other political options open to her after she leaves the White House, including seeking Senate seats in Illinois or California or even making a presidential bid somewhere down the line. However, friends say, given the family’s massive legal debts, she may join corporate boards, return to practicing law or write a book to make serious money instead.
