Fulton Brothers Earn Eagle Scout Ranks

Ben and Colin Fulton have earned Eagle Scout awards, the highest rank in the Boy Scouts of America.

The brothers are sons of Bob and Elaine Fulton.

Ben, a freshman at Gonzaga Prep, solicited donations for and coordinated the building of a double-sided fire danger sign for Fire District 8 at 32nd and Linke. It required more than 100 man-hours to complete.

Colin, an eighth-grade student at Horizon Junior High School, coordinated the planting of 300 ponderosa pines and chokecherry bushes along the Centennial Trail in Riverside State Park and installed bluebird houses in the area.

Both are members of Troop 400, sponsored by Redeemer Lutheran Church, with Ben as the senior patrol leader.

Two Spokane community leaders and a business received Trailblazers for Diversity awards last fall at Community Colleges of Spokane’s “Unity in Our Community: Through Education Comes Understanding.”

Rob Fukai of Washington Water Power, the Rev. Lonnie Mitchell, pastor of Bethel A.M.E. Church, and Metropolitan Mortgage and Securities Inc. were recognized for individual and workplace efforts in helping make Spokane a better place to live and work.

Army Pvts. Daniel D. Clubb and Benjamin D. Wentz graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning in Columbus, Ga.

Clubb, son of Chris and Daniel Clubb, Spokane, is a 1998 graduate of Ferris High School.

Wentz, a 1998 graduate of Lewis and Clark High School, is the son of Rebecca Wentz, Spokane.

Kenneth Fridley, a member of Washington State University’s civil and environmental engineering faculty, received the Marian E. Smith Faculty Achievement award.

The $5,000 award recognizes Fridley for his extraordinary commitment to teaching, community service and mastery of the latest knowledge in the field of structures through prolific research.

Dennis Tatman, a certified nurse anesthetist, received the Clinical Service Award of Excellence from the Spokane Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He was cited for exceptional or outstanding clinical dedication, performance and accomplishments. Tatman is clinical site coordinator for second-year nurse anesthetist students in affiliation with the Sacred Heart School of Anesthesia.
