Conference

The Eastern Washington Legislative Conference will be Jan. 29 and 30 at First Presbyterian Church, 318 S. Cedar, from 7 to 9 p.m. Jan. 29 and from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. the following day.

Featured speaker will be the Rev. Randy Hyvonen, conference minister of the Washington-North Idaho United Church of Christ.

Workshop topics will include media action, welfare reform and child care, and the environment and health.

Cost: $20. For information and registration call the Spokane Council of Ecumenical Ministries at 624-5156.

Workshop

“Fostering Spirituality, Self-Esteem and Character in the Family” is the topic of a workshop next Friday and Saturday at Grant Elementary School, 1300 E. Ninth. Workshop materials are based on the book “The Family Virtues Guide” by Linda Kavelin Popov.

The workshop will be 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. next Saturday. Cost: $2 for handouts; $15 for optional textbooks. To register, call 534-6479 or 536-0172.
