Hints From Heloise
Dear Heloise: I am sure that there are many households like mine that have various lengths of extension cords stashed away in some drawer. When you are ready to use one, how many do you have to unwind to find the correct length to use?
I was removing the 1-inch square plastic tab used to keep the contents in a plastic bag. The idea came to me: Why not use a permanent marker and write the length of the extension cord on the plastic tab (6, 7, 8 or 9 inches) and attach it to the extension cord. It worked and, hey, I have recycled. - Howard Blasingame, Houston
Dear Heloise: I enjoy reading your column. I’ve also seen you on TV. It is always wise to save money when you can.
I found a good way to use commode lid covers. My barstool seats are made of leather and had split, so I tried one of the covers, and it fit. I won’t have to have a repair bill at this time. - Alma Drake, Vanceboro, N.C.
