George Sets Pace As Ferris Prevails
Kim George placed first on the uneven bars on the way to the all-around title Thursday, leading Ferris to victory in a four-way Greater Spokane League gymnastics meet at University.
George scored 35.05 points to edge teammate Gail Larsen (35.0) for the all-around title. Ferris totaled 172.05 points. The host U-Hi Titans were the runners-up with 163.65.
Ferris (20-1) extended its league lead over Central Valley (18-2), which won a five-way meet Wednesday. The GSL season ends next week.
Event winners were George, bars, 8.95; Alix Herr, Ferris, balance beam, 9.3; Alisa Brandle, U-Hi, floor exercise, 9.25; and Kelly Roberts, U-Hi, vault, 8.7.
Leah Borg, third in the all-around, lifted Shadle Park (11-10) to third, ahead of Lewis and Clark (1-19).
