Octuplets Update
Doctors in Houston predicted a healthy future for the seven surviving octuplets Thursday, saying no signs of developmental problems have surfaced. “These children have a good chance of being normal,” said Dr. Leonard Weisman, chief neonatologist at Texas Children’s Hospital. The two boys and five girls were born three months premature in December to Nkem Chukwu and Iyke Louis. All are now off ventilators and receiving breast milk. Brain scans revealed no bleeding, usually a hallmark of developmental problems. The medical bill is expected to reach $1.75 million.
