For only the second time since 1991, a Kenyan failed to capture either title at Atlanta’s 30th Peachtree Road Race, the world’s largest 10K, with 55,000 runners.

Khalid Khannouchi of Morocco defended his Peachtree title in 27:45, and Elana Meyer of South Africa won the first Peachtree she ever entered in 31:34.

In Chicago, Karch Kiraly broke the record for the most wins in professional beach volleyball history. With his win in the Association of Volleyball Professionals-Paul Mitchell US Open, Kiraly, 38, has 140 career victories - one more than Sinjin Smith.

At Henley on Thames, England, the Augusta Sculling Center won the Double Sculls Challenge, giving the United States its only victory at the 150th Henley Regatta.

The U.S. national team of Ian McGowan and Nick Peterson beat Conal Groom and Steve Tucker, both pairs representing Augusta, by three lengths.
