Streeter Steps Down From Council
A Post Falls City Council member resigned Wednesday, leaving a vacancy on the five-member board.
Karen Streeter served on the council for a few months shy of 15 years: from February 1984 to January 1996 and from November 1997 to Wednesday, when she gave her resignation to Mayor Gus Johnson.
She cited personal reasons for her departure.
Streeter enjoyed her tenure on the council, she said, and felt particularly proud that she had helped improve the city streets and get a sewer system for the city.
“That was one of the most important things that has happened,” she said.
She has served on the Library, Emergency Services, Traffic Safety, Planning and Zoning and Sister City boards. She also is resigning her post on the Urban Renewal Agency, where she is chairwoman.
She received the Mayor’s Public Service Award in January 1996.
“Karen has been an asset to this council and to our community,” Johnson said. “I’m honored to have served with her and wish her well.”
Streeter said she has not ruled out returning to public service at a later date.
