The Federal Aviation Administration levied a $250,000 civil penalty against American Airlines because airline employees and contractors failed to display their badges in high-security areas at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.

Safeway Inc. said its second-quarter earnings rose by 22 percent, boosted by its acquisition last year of the Chicago-area supermarket chain Dominick’s.

General Electric Co. reported its second-quarter profits rose 15 percent.

Cosco Inc. recalled 670,000 infant car seats that convert into infant carriers after receiving 151 reports of the carrier’s handle unexpectedly releasing. Playskool, meanwhile, said it will recall 273,000 spill-proof cups because of a defect in the flexible spout that made the plastic cup susceptible to tearing and posed a choking hazard to young children.

A job fair sponsored by tenants of the River Park Square shopping center and scheduled for 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesday will be held at the exhibit hall in the lower level of Crescent Court, 707 W. Main. A report in Wednesday’s newspaper gave the wrong location for that fair, which is one of four planned next week.
