David Solomon Spokane
A memorial service for David Solomon will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hillyard Baptist Church.
Mr. Solomon, 47, was shot to death June 29 at the Gold Creek rest stop near Deer Lodge, Mont. Police are investigating.
He was self-employed and was a member of Hillyard Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Solomon; and two sons.
Matthew Davis Spokane
Visitation for Matthew Joseph Davis, 17, will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Funeral is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Mr. Davis, who was born in Spokane, died July 6 in Chewelah, Wash. He was a homicide victim.
He worked with his grandparents, operating an Oklahoma Funnel Cake booth at various fairs around Washington during the summer.
Survivors include his mother, Michaella Hunton of Tacoma; his father and stepmother, Ricky and Laura Davis; and two brothers, Terry and Keith Davis, all of Long Beach, Wash.; two sisters, Mikayla and Jamie, both of Tacoma; his grandparents, Barbara and Tim Rooney of Federal Way, and Tom and Shirley Cameron of Newport.
Memorial contributions may be made to Xerox Teamworks, Matthew J. Davis Memorial Fund at any Seafirst Bank in Washington. This fund will help support families and friends of violent crime victims.
Michelle `Mickey’ Peterson Creston, Wash.
Rosary for Michelle Rita “Mickey” (McGruder) Peterson, will be at 7 p.m. today at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wilbur, Wash. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Strate Funeral Home in Davenport, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Peterson, who was born in Richland, died Monday. She was 61.
In 1957 her family moved to Spokane.
She retired as the credit manager for General Motors Acceptance Corporation after 30 years.
In 1992 she moved to Creston.
Mrs. Peterson was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where she served as president of the Altar Society. She was also a member of the Coulee Dam (Wash.) Art Club.
Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Gordon; a son, Steven Peterson of Spokane; a daughter, Shelley Brady of Spokane; a brother John McGruder of Coeur d’Alene; a sister, Maurine Guthrie of Hayden Lake, Idaho; and one grandson, Shawn Peterson of Spokane.
Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wilbur.
Joseph Wandler Jr. Spokane
Funeral for Joseph D. Wandler, Jr., 75, will be at 10 a.m. today at Holy Cross Cemetery Chapel. Burial will follow. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A lifetime Spokane resident, Mr. Wandler died Tuesday.
He attended Rogers High School and served in the Army during World War II.
Mr. Wandler worked as a machinist for many years.
He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and the Hillyard Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1474.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; and two sisters, Shirley Grumbly and Josephine Batty, both of Spokane.
Doris Jorges Spokane
Memorial service for Doris P. Jorges is planned for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Ball and Dodd Funeral HomeNorth.
A lifetime Spokane resident, Mrs. Jorges, died Monday. She was 86.
She graduated from North Central High School in 1931.
Mrs. Jorges worked as a sales clerk for the Bon Marche for 12 years. She retired in 1975.
She was a 22-year member of the Northside Church of Christ.
Her husband of 28 years, Claude, died in 1962.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol Lichtenstein of San Jose, Calif., and Lynn Nutting of Santa Rosa, Calif.; two brothers, Donald Hyer of Salem, Ore., and Willmar Hyer of Weaverville, Calif.; a sister, Norma Mattausch of Kirkland, Wash.; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
Jasper `Jack’ Lovesee Osburn, Idaho
Service for Jasper C. “Jack” Lovesee, 72, will be today at 3 p.m. at the Kellogg Funeral Home.
Mr. Lovesee, who was born in Joplin, Mo., died Wednesday.
He married Fannie Krews in 1947 and lived in Oklahoma until moving to the Silver Valley in 1958. He worked at the Sunshine Mine for 25 years before retiring in 1989.
Mr. Lovesee had also worked for the Bunker Hill Co. and ASARCO and was a member of the Osburn Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Bobbie Thompson of Pinehurst, Idaho; three brothers, Fred Lovesee of Kansas, and Tom and Gary Lovesee, both of Oklahoma; a sister, Ruby Smith of Oklahoma; one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter.
Edith Cook Walla Walla
Funeral for Edith L. Cook, 103, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John (Wash.) United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Pine City (Wash.) Cemetery. Schanzenbach Funeral Home in Rosalia, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Lamont, Wash., Mrs. Cook died Tuesday.
She lived in the Lamont area in her early years, where she attended Columbia Grade School.
In 1913 she married Ira Cook. They lived and farmed in the Ewan, Wash., and St. John areas for many years before moving to Pine City in 1935.
She lived in Prescott, Wash., for eight years before moving to Walla Walla two months ago.
Mrs. Cook was a member of the Kenova Grange and the Grandmothers Club.
Her husband died in 1971.
Survivors include eight children, Marold, Ivan and Neil Cook, all of St. John, Naomi Morasch of Spokane, Melvin Cook of Deep Lake, Wash., Ilene Kromm of Waitsburg, Wash., Neva Hargrave of Post Falls and Donna Morasch of Prescott; 29 grandchildren, 73 great-grandchildren and 55 great-great-grandchildren.

Warren Allen Spokane
Graveside service for Warren Dean Allen, 86, will be at 2 p.m. today at Elk Cemetery No. 1. Lauer Funeral Home in Deer Park is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Allen, who was born in Freeman, Wash., died Monday.
He attended Kinman Business University in Spokane for a few years before serving in the Army during World War II in the occupation of Japan.
Mr. Allen retired from the Federal Civil Service.
He was a member of the Camden Grange since 1934 and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 51 in Spokane and Post 5924 in Elk, and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
He moved to Spokane from Elk in the late 1980s.
Survivors include numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Camilla Geer Spokane
Memorial service for Camilla Jean Geer, a longtime Spokane resident, will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Harvest Christian Fellowship, where she was a 47-year member.
Mrs. Geer, who was born in Kelso, Wash., died Wednesday. She was 85.
She was an avid musician, singing on the the first live radio broadcast in Longview, Wash., from the Grace Tabernacle. She also played piano.
Her husband, Fenton Geer, preceded her in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Marcia Hale of Spokane and Janelle Hook of Rainier, Ore.; a son, Clarence Geer of Kelso; four grandsons and five great-grandchildren.
