Zach Kingsley scored two goals and Dave Berto added a goal and an assist as the Spokane Shadow shut out the Yakima Reds 3-0 Friday night.

The win improved the third-place Shadow to 13-8 and 6-5 in the USL Premier League’s Northwest Division. Fifth-place Yakima fell to 4-7 in the division.

The win avenged the Shadow’s 4-3 loss to the Reds one week ago at Albi Stadium.

Kingsley, a Shadle Park graduate who plays college soccer at Washington, scored in the 23rd minute off a Jeff Rose assist. He added his second goal, in the 68th minute, off an assist from Dave Berto.

Berto, a veteran member of the Shadow, made the score at 3-0 in the 86th minute. Zane Higgins assisted.

Shadow keeper Brian Mullen had six saves to Derek Collins’ five saves for Yakima.

Spokane took eight shots while Yakima finished with nine.

The Shadow return home to Albi Stadium tonight to play host to the first-place Willamette Valley Firebirds (9-1 in league). The two teams have split this season, with Spokane winning a U.S. Open Cup qualifier 3-2 and the Firebirds winning a regular season matchup 1-0.

Spokane will continue to play without captain Stuart Saunders, who is out with a knee injury. The Shadow have added former Yakima player Justin Franson to their roster in an attempt to strengthen the defensive unit for the USL Premier League National Championship, Aug. 14-15 at Albi.
