Breaststroke Record Falls
South African swimmer Penny Heyns set a world record in the 100-meter breaststroke, one day after twice breaking the world record in the 200-meter event.
Heyns broke the 100-meter mark with a swim of 1 minute, 6.99 seconds in the preliminaries of the Janet Evans Invitational at USC. She edged the record of 1:07.02, which she set in 1996.
