Cda Council Expected To Increase Fire Department Staffing Levels
The City Council is expected to raise minimum staffing levels for each Fire Department shift at its regular meeting tonight.
The city’s current agreement with the firefighters union specifies that six firefighters be on duty at all times.
The proposed agreement would raise that number to seven.
The new agreement also would set geographic boundaries within which firefighters could attend training and seminars when on duty.
The purpose of updating the rules is to ensure quick response to emergencies, city documents say.
The council also is expected to:
Accept subdivision improvements at North Pines.
Revise reimbursement rates for firefighting equipment loaned to the Idaho Department of Lands.
Sign a memorandum of understanding formally requesting the Idaho Department of Lands to help fight fires within the city limits in certain circumstances.
Set an Aug. 17 public hearing on changes in building permit fees.
Consider a zoning change at 3400 Fruitland Lane.
