Crash Kills Two Hayden Lake Teens

Two Idaho teenagers were killed and a third was injured in a one-car accident on Interstate 90 in the Spokane Valley on Monday, the Washington State Patrol reported.

Killed were Kyle Kirk, 18, and Bret Humphrey, 17, both of Hayden Lake. Stacy Wagner, 16, suffered a fractured hip and was taken by ambulance to Deaconess Medical Center in Spokane.

None of the teenagers was wearing a seat belt, troopers said.

The crash occurred about 5:45 p.m. between the Liberty Lake and Barker Road exits. Kirk was driving his 1991 Mazda Navajo westbound when he drifted onto the shoulder, troopers said.

He jerked the car back onto the road, sending the vehicle into a skid and then a roll, troopers said. Kirk and Humphrey were thrown out of the Navajo.
