Sink Your Teeth Into Jelly Roll

Pianist Scott Kirby will perform a program of ragtime and American piano music Tuesday at the WSU campus in Pullman.

Kirby is a master of the ragtime classics of Scott Joplin, Joseph Lamb and James Scott. When he performs, Kirby displays ragtime’s connection to early jazz by playing the music of Jelly Roll Morton. His show also includes music from Cuba and South America as well as his own compositions.

Kirby has recorded two albums— “Grace and Beauty” and “On Lincoln Place.”

The concert Tuesday begins at 8 p.m. and will be held in the Bryan Hall Auditorium. It’s open to the public and free of charge.
