Luke Runyan Finishes Coast Guard Basic Training

U.S. Coast Guard Seaman Apprentice Luke Runyan graduated from basic military training at Tte Coast Guard Training Center in Cape May, N.J.

His first tour of duty will be aboard the high-endurance Coast Guard cutter Midgett in the Persian Gulf.

Runyan, a 1997 graduate of Mead High School, is the son of Pat and Tana Runyan, Spokane.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Tait Delzer graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

Delzer, a 1998 graduate of Lakeside High School, is the son of Laurie Walther, Nine Mile Falls, and Gary Delzer, Spokane.

Jessica Fielder has been selected by America’s Homecoming Queen Inc. as Washington’s Homecoming Queen. She will receive a cash scholarship plus an expense-paid trip to California to compete with finalists from other states this summer.

Fielder, Deer Park High School’s homecoming queen, is the daughter of Butch and Tonie Fielder, Deer Park.

Susan (Nelson) Blue graduated from Southwest Texas State University at San Marcos, Texas, with a degree in health care.

She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Nelson, Spokane.

Forrest Bale, a senior at Centre College in Danville, Ky., has been named a member of Beta Beta Beta, a national honor society for students who have excelled in the study of biology.

Bale, a 1996 graduate of Ferris High School, is the son of Pamela and Bradley Bale, Spokane.

Timothy Allen, a junior majoring in chemistry at Whitman College, has been elected to the Order of Waiilatpu, a senior honorary society at the college, based on enterprise, citizenship and service to the college and the community.

Allen, a 1996 graduate of Gonzaga Preparatory School, is the son of Edward and Katherine Allen, Spokane.

Air Force Airman Kristi Jensen has graduated from the airfield management apprentice course at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Miss.

Jensen is the daughter of Kim and stepdaughter of Terry Hill, Spokane, and a 1998 graduate of Shadle Park High School.

Lynne Hueber has graduated from the University of Idaho with a degree in resource recreation and tourism.

She is a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, where she was nominated as Greek Woman of the Year.

Hueber, a 1995 graduate of Mead High School, is the daughter of Dennis and Dianne Hueber, Spokane.

Travis Ruhl has been commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Air Force through the Reserve Officer Training Corps program after graduating from Boston University.

Ruhl, a 1995 graduate of Ferris High School, is the son of Roger and Beverly Ruhl, Spokane.
