Youths Raise $4,337 By Doing Math

Lakes Middle School students raised $4,337 in a math-a-thon for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

For the past several weeks, students have collected pledges for every math problem they solve, with a couple of students raising more than $200 each.

Top finishers were Jasper Wilson, $219.20; Savannah Prochna, $204.60; and Corey Pataky, $154.03.

This is the first year Lakes Middle School has participated in the matha-thon.
