Nerdvision Has Built Up Loyal Viewers

The verdict is still out on ZDTV, but early returns are promising.

Thirteen months after its opening broadcast, the technology channel has built a core group of loyal viewers. A typical eight-hour segment, which is repeated three times daily, includes entertaining presentations of technological news, gizmos, gadgets and computing advice.

“You have to wow people with it,” one ZDTV executive says.

Shedding light: David Byrne is a modern day Thomas Edison.

Edison’s invention of the light bulb changed lifestyles worldwide. Now, Byrne hopes to usher in a new era in lighting with a radically different bulb that uses scores of light-emitting diodes and reflectors.

He claims that one version of his new bulb will throw off as much light as a conventional 150-watt bulb while using less than 20 watts of electricity. And it will last almost forever - 100,000 hours or more.
