Charles Garriott Spokane

Memorial service for Charles F. “Charlie” Garriott, 77, will be at 11 a.m. today at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. Private burial will be at Spokane Memorial Gardens. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Garriott, who was born in Colorado Springs, died Sunday.

He graduated from Simla High School in Colorado Springs in 1940 and served in the Navy during World War II.

He worked for the IXL Creamery in Colorado Springs before moving to Spokane in 1951. He later worked as an ice cream maker at Carnation Co. He retired in 1984.

Mr. Garriott was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, the Masonic Lodge, the Eagles, Spokane Square Dancers and the Pinochle Club.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Ruth; a son, Marvin Garriott, and a daughter, Yvonne Yosseif, both of Chicago; and two granddaughters.

Billy Gray Medical Lake

Memorial service for Billy V. Gray, 63, will be at 3 p.m. today at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Medical Lake. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A 34-year Medical Lake resident, Mr. Gray died Tuesday. He was born in Ware County, Ga.

He served in the Air Force for 20 years and fought in the Korean and Vietnam wars.

He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Mr. Gray is survived by his wife of 42 years, Jo Ann; two sons, Randy Gray of Spokane and Lannie Gray of Medical Lake; a daughter, Laura Gray of Spokane; two brothers, L.J. Gray of Waycross, Ga. and Bob Gray of Nichols, Ga.; a sister, Irene MacDowell of Keystone Heights, Fla.; and eight grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Spokane or the Union Gospel Mission.

Kenneth Drexel Spokane

Funeral Mass for Kenneth W. Drexel will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Colbert. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North is in charge of arrangements.

A lifetime Spokane resident, Mr. Drexel died Wednesday. He was 80.

He worked as a meatcutter for Market Basket, Becwar Packing Co. and SP Meats.

He retired in 1981 and then built homes in Hawaii and Idaho.

He was a member of United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1439, the Moose Lodge, Eagles and Wandermere Men’s golf teams and St. Aloysius Catholic Church.

His wife, Patricia, died in 1971.

Survivors include a son, Read Drexel of Spokane; his companion of 23 years, Marie Nolan of Spokane; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Carmelita Lopez Spokane

Service for Carmelita A. Lopez, 63, will be at 10 a.m. today at Hennessey Valley Funeral Home. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Trentwood.

An 18-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Lopez died Monday. She was born in the Philippines.

She worked as a machine operator at Keytronics for 15 years.

Mrs. Lopez is survived by two sons, Albert Lopez of Spokane and Brando Lopez of Anchorage, Alaska; two daughters, Lynn Marcelo of Spokane and Maria Gregory of Liberty Lake; two sisters, Jane Justice of Idaho and Ellen Thomas or Oregon; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

George Manning Spokane

Memorial service for George V. Manning, 75, will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Heritage Funeral Home.

Born in Wallace, Idaho, Mr. Manning died Tuesday.

He served in the Army during World War II and received a Purple Heart after participating in the Battle of the Bulge.

A 66-year Spokane resident, Mr. Manning graduated from Eastern Washington University and taught at Shadle Park High School for 31 years.

He was a member of the Couples Dance Club.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Erlene; three sisters, Ruth Duncan, Ellen Pellanda and Elsie Oman, all of Spokane.

Derek Miller St. John, Wash.

Memorial service for Derek Trevor Miller, 17, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. John-Endicott High School.

Derek has been presumed drowned in a June 10 boating accident on Rock Lake. He was born in Colfax, Wash.

He attended St. John-Endicott High School and worked on the family farm.

Derek played football and basketball and participated in the St. John and Endicott gun shoots. He was involved with Future Farmers of America, where he participated in judging and livestock exhibitions.

Survivors include his parents, Dwayne and Lori Miller; three sisters, Meranda, Casey and CeJae; his grandparents, Clinton and Kathleen Miller of Lamont, Wash., Margaret Sarchet of Tucson, Ariz., Ruby Twiggs of Cheney, and Ed Iszler of New Mexico; and his great-grandmother, Beulah Miller of Colfax.

Agnes Brazington Lewiston

Graveside service for Agnes Brazington, 89, will be at 1 p.m. today at Fairmount Memorial Park in Spokane. Malcom’s Brower-Wann Memorial Chapel in Lewiston is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Brazington, who was born in Langdon, N.D., died Monday.

She grew up and attended schools in North Dakota until moving to Bonners Ferry in 1916. She married Clyde Brazington in 1926. They lived in Laclede, Idaho, until 1931 when they moved to Spirit Lake.

Mrs. Brazington lived in Twin Lakes near Rathdrum, Idaho, before moving to Spokane in 1944.

She settled in Weippe, Idaho, in 1951 and began cooking for JT Hall Logging Co. and Diamond National. She also cooked for the U.S. Forest Service at Kelly Creek, Cedars and Cold Springs before retiring in 1970.

Mrs. Brazington moved to Lewiston in 1959 and maintained her home there while living in Alaska from 1970 until 1974.

Her husband, Clyde, died in in 1979.

Survivors include two daughters, Euginia Kirby of Lewiston and Beatrice Stanger of Portland; three sons, Virgil Brazington of Spokane, Don Brazington of Lewiston and Marvin Brazington of Sterling, Alaska; a half-sister, Frances McCoy of Rathdrum; 22 grandchildren, 67 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren.

Harold `Red’ Hauser Veradale

No service will be held for Harold E. “Red” Hauser at his request. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hauser, 67, died Tuesday. He was born in Cottage Grove, Ore.

He served in the Navy during the Korean War.

A 44-year Veradale resident, Mr. Hauser was a longhaul truck driver. He also worked for Honeywell.

Mr. Hauser was a member of the Post Falls Eagles Lodge, the Veterans of Foreign Wars in the Spokane Valley, the Amateur Trapshooting Association, the National Rifle Association and the Hauser Lake and Spokane gun clubs.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Barbara; a son, Ty Hauser of Newman Lake; two daughters, Lauri Sandy of Veradale and Kelly Owens of Otis Orchards; his mother, Irene Hauser of Post Falls; six grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Lloyd Hill Spokane

Memorial service for Lloyd Earl Hill, 79, is planned for noon Saturday at Pines Cemetery. Inurnment will follow. Hennessey Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hill, who died Monday, was born in Hayter, Alberta.

In 1942 he married Lila Briggs.

He was a 74-year Spokane resident and worked as an inspector for Kaiser Aluminum for 32 years.

He was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Gary Hill of Newman Lake; five daughters, Sharon Hill, Kathy Bender, Robin Lovejoy and Karen Hill, all of Spokane, and Susan Almon of Nine Mile Falls; a sister, Helen Purcell of Spokane; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Ralph Bumgarner Colfax, Wash.

Memorial service for Ralph F. Bumgarner, 89, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax. Private burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Dusty (Wash.) Cemetery.

Mr. Bumgarner, who was born near LaCrosse, Wash., died Wednesday.

He graduated from Colfax High School in 1927.

In 1931 he married Bessie Wagner.

He farmed in Whitman County for several years.

He was a volunteer with the Diamond (Wash.) Fire Department since 1940 and later became the fire chief.

Mr. Bumgarner also ran the rain totals for the Soil Conservation Service for many years.

He was a member of Parvin Grange.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Robert Bumgarner of Genesee, Idaho; a daughter, Marjorie Dyck of Ritzville, Wash.; a sister, Hazel Barr of Vancouver, Wash.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Kenneth Boller Lewiston

Graveside service for Kenneth S. Boller will be at 10 a.m. today at Freeze Cemetery near Potlatch, Idaho. A celebration of life will follow at 3 p.m. at Hells Gate State Park in Lewiston. Kramer Funeral Home in Palouse, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Boller, 66, died Monday. He was born in Potlatch.

In 1952 he graduated from Potlatch High School.

Mr. Boller served in the Army from 1953 to 1955. He married Eddie McCuistion in 1955.

Mr. Boller worked as a service station attendant for Fiscus and Whitney. He later worked for Cone and Bennett Lumber Co., J.E. Hall Logging and Dave Best in Potlatch.

In 1966, he and his wife moved to Superior, Mont., and in 1967, to Kamiah, Idaho.

They moved to Lewiston in 1969 and he worked for the Lewiston School District. He also owned Ken’s Tree Service since 1978.

Mr. Boller was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Arborist Society.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Pete and Bruce Boller, both of Lewiston; a daughter, Denise Boller of Ridgefield, Wash.; two brothers, Charles Boller of Federal Way, Wash., and Orville Boller of Fernwood, Idaho; and two sisters, Rose Skiles of Kamiah and Camille Harp of Malden, Wash.

Michael Broderius Spokane

Funeral service for Michael V. Broderius, 26, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow at the Pines Cemetery.

A lifetime Spokane resident, Mr. Broderius, died Tuesday.

He graduated from the masonry program at Columbia Basin College in Moses Lake.

Mr. Broderius worked in the construction industry.

Survivors include a daughter, Ashlei Rayne of Spokane; his mother, Judi Dunn, and his father, Michael Broderius, both of Spokane; and three brothers, Daniel, Timothy and Robert Broderius, all of Spokane.

Donald Oxford Seattle

Memorial service for Donald Carol “Ox” Oxford, 49, is planned for 1 p.m. Saturday at Shadle Park Presbyterian Church. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A former Spokane resident, Mr. Oxford died June 10. He was born in San Francisco.

He graduated from Shadle Park High School in 1968.

Mr. Oxford moved to Seattle in 1989.

Survivors include a son, Dylan Oxford, and a daughter, Natalia Oxford, both of Tacoma; and his mother Doris Oxford of Spokane.

Andre Hatten YaJara Jones Spokane

No service will be held for Andre Hatten, 6, and YaJara Jones, 3 who died from injuries suffered in a car accident Monday near Pinehurst, Idaho. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Andre was born in Alexandria, Ind. YaJara was born in Natchez, Miss.

Andre attended kindergarten at Garfield Elementary School.

They are survived by their parents, Andre Jones and Charlotte Hatten of Spokane; three sisters, Andria and Kieria Jones at home, and ZaRonni Jones of Louisiana.
