Barbecue Highlights Fire Prevention Week
In recognition of Idaho Wildfire Prevention Week, local agencies are firing up the barbecue grill this Saturday at the Pend Oreille Forest Protective District offices.
Smokey Bear will be there, along with employees of the Idaho Department of Lands, the U.S. Forest Service and the Bonner County Fire Prevention Cooperative to share tips on how to fireproof private property and avoid wildfires.
Refreshments include a barbecue with 50-cent hot dogs and drinks.
Area fire agencies are working together to develop a coordinated effort at fire prevention.
The Pend Oreille Forest Protective District is located at 2550 Highway 2 West in Sandpoint. The district has fought 24 wildfires already this year.
