The Miami Dolphins signed free-agent linebacker Dixon Edwards to a one-year contract, adding depth and experience at the outside position, the team said.

Edwards, 31, who spent the past three seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, started 14 games last season, registering 56 tackles and one fumble recovery.

Former Stanford University golfer Joel Kribel will play in his first tournament as a pro at this week’s Buick Classic in Westchester, N.Y.

Kribel, arguably the best golfer to come out of Stanford since Tiger Woods, has been granted a sponsor’s exemption for the PGA Tour event.

A delay during the voting process forced the Basketball Hall of Fame to postpone announcing this year’s inductees until later this week.

The nominees announced earlier this month are Kevin McHale, John Thompson, Maurice Cheeks, Gus Johnson, Dennis Johnson, JoJo White, Robert McAdoo, Sidney Moncrief, Chet Walker, Jim Phelan, Tex Winter, Morgan Wootten, Wayne Embry, Grady Lewis, Fred Zollner, Drazen Petrovic, Pereira Maciel Ubiratan, Billie Moore and Harley Redin.
