Sniper’S View

The view from the sixth-floor warehouse window where Lee Harvey Oswald shot President Kennedy on Nov. 22, 1963, was transmitted live Thursday on the Internet at www.jfk.org to the chagrin of Kennedy’s survivors. The camera is mounted in the window of the old Texas Schoolbook Depository in Dallas. The sixth-floor has been a Kennedy museum for years. Oswald’s perch is preserved, complete with stacked wooden crates near the window, but the corner is behind glass and off-limits to visitors. A Kennedy family spokeswoman called the Web cam “insensitive and tasteless,” but the director of the museum defended the transmission, saying it doesn’t disrupt “the solemnity of the museum experience.”
