Institute of Ministry in July

Whitworth College will host the 24th Whitworth Institute of Ministry July 19-23.

The weeklong conference, designed for pastors and their families, includes worship, theological reflection, Bible study, prayer and small-group interaction.

Featured speakers include Leanne Van Dyk, associate professor of reformed theology at Western Theological Seminary, Holland, Mich.; Gerald Sittser, Whitworth religion professor; and Joanna Adams, senior pastor at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Atlanta.

Cost: $175 singles, $330 couples, $85 children. Room and board is an additional $175 for adults and $80 for children.

Concerts scheduled

The musical group Heartfriends will perform in concert from 6 to 8 p.m. today in Sherman Square Park in Coeur d’Alene. The musicians hail from California and Europe and perform spirituals and gospel, pop, jazz and classical music. The free concert is presented by the Baha’i community of Kootenai County.

The group Reflection, of Azusa Pacific University, Azusa, Calif., will perform at 9:30 a.m. Sunday at Glover Middle School, 2404 W. Longfellow. It will be sponsored by New Horizons Community Church, which meets at the school.
