Robber Escapes With Cash

A man wearing red gloves escaped from a downtown bank with an unknown amount of money after robbing the branch during a lunchtime heist.

The robber ran from the Washington Trust Bank branch at Second Street and Lakeside Avenue about 12:50 p.m. He was last seen running through an alley near 24Hour Fitness athletic club and TW Fisher’s, police said.

No weapon was shown during the robbery and no one was injured. Police did not say whether the man made any threats or displayed a note when he demanded the money.

Bank employees described the robber as white, in his late 20s or early 30s, about 5 feet 8 inches tall and 180 pounds. He had longer, light-brown hair and a goatee, and was wearing a baseball-style cap and wool jacket.

Coeur d’Alene police detectives and FBI agents are investigating similarities to other area bank robberies, but have yet to find a connection.
