Pact Changes Railroad Crossings
An agreement the city plans to make official with the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad calls for changing some railroad crossing.
The city and the railroad have talked about making the changes, but the city wanted to create an agreement in writing, city administrator Jim Hammond said at the Tuesday council meeting.
Plans call for a ramp crossing at Exit 7 from Interstate 90 to have fully activated crossing controls. Crossings at Spencer Street and at Bay Street will have stop signs.
If the agreement is ratified by Burlington Northern Santa Fe, crossings at Henry Street and Spokane Street will be closed. The city will remove a spur track from the crossing at Spokane Street when it is closed.
Crossings at Greensferry and Chase roads will be widened.
The council approved the agreement Tuesday.
